As a result of its constant updates, an ever-changing world map, and numerous crossovers with other popular titles, Fortnite has established itself as the definitive battle royale game. For the first time in gaming history, it is one of the few games that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels.

If you’ve been playing for a long time, it’s normal to feel like you need a break. There are a slew other games that, although not quite like Fortnite, satisfy the same craving for building and shooting in different ways. This is a list of the greatest games like Fortnite that will be available in 2022.

Many of these games are either directly influenced by Fortnite or explore similar ideas. Make sure to keep an eye on this page as new entries are added.

Finally, while you’re here, have a look at some of our other curated lists of game suggestions.

Apex Legends

Provider: Respawn Entertainment

In the battle royale arena, Apex Legends has proven itself to be as good as, if not better than, Epic’s game. Because it was developed by Respawn, which has already released two Titanfall games, you wouldn’t be surprised by the game’s excellent quality.

Người chơi Apex Legends muốn có thêm tính năng mới cho bản console

Immediately after three players are dropped onto a map, the game rapidly becomes a wild scramble to find the greatest weapon and gear you can as a circle closes in around you. For example, solo matchmaking, teammate respawn and cinematic kill screens make every elimination feel as exciting and valuable as your first one.

The aesthetics are more realistic than Fortnite’s, but the gameplay is just as enjoyable. New heroes, termed “Legends,” are being added to Apex, as well as a new map at the beginning of each season.

PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds

PUBG Corp. is the company behind this game.

Before Fortnite stole its shine, there was a solid window where PUBG dominated as the most played battle royale, resulting in its early adoption as an eSport. A free-to-play mobile version of the game is an important component in its sustained relevance, even if the game’s console and PC lobby remain full to this day.

That may sound like a negative review of PUBG, but it’s actually a sign of the game’s intended audience. A more rigorous shooter than most, PUBG focuses significantly on skill rather than luck because of its use of projectile ballistics.

What better way to challenge yourself than to win a chicken meal in Fortnite?

Call of Duty: Warzone

Infinity Ward and Raven are the developers.

This is the second time that the Call of Duty series has embraced the burgeoning popularity of battle royales, after last year’s Black Ops 4: Blackout. The only difference this time around is that it’s a standalone game that you can play for free even if you don’t own a copy of Modern Warfare 3. Play is divided into five sectors, and each sector has up to 150 players scattered throughout it.

The Gulag, a prison where players respawn after being killed, distinguishes Warzone from other battle royales. You can engage in one-on-one combat to the death here, with the winner receiving a chance to respawn and join their team if they win.

Your team’s chances of winning are greatly improved when you can bring back teammates by investing in-game money at Buy Stations.

Tetris 99

Nintendo and Arika are the developers.

Tetris and Fortnite don’t seem to have much in common at first appearance. A 2D puzzler one, and a 3D shooter the other, are two quite different types of games. Tetris 99’s innovative twist on traditional Tetris action, in which up to 99-players compete to clear lines and throw “trash rows” to competitor players’ gaming boards, draws them closer to one other.

Building structures in Fortnite isn’t far off from stacking tetrominoes, if you think about it. You would not expect a puzzle game to be as intense as it is, but matches can get very hot very quickly.

An limitless marathon mode and CPU Battles are included as part of a free DLC pack for Nintendo Switch Online’s Tetris 99.

Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment is the company behind the game.

The vivid cartoony art style of Overwatch makes it a good alternative for Fortnite fans who need a break from the standard formula. Overwatch may not be a battle royale game. Assault, Escort, and Control are just a few of the different modes of play that 6v6 teams compete in during a match. Damage, Defense, Support, and Tank are the four classes of characters in the game’s roster.

Overwatch is a fun game to play even if you don’t have a lot of time to think about strategy or queue up with a complete squad. All heroes have unique ways of playing, so you’re sure to pick a favorite. Additionally, Overwatch boasts one of the most active competitive scenes, with tournaments and even a full league of teams from all over the world competing on a regular basis.

Destiny 2

Developer: Bungie

Destiny 2, a first-person shooter influenced by massively multiplayer online games, is now more comparable to Fortnite than ever in 2022.

A season-based combat pass and cross-save capabilities have been added to the game, which is now free to play. As a result of the current gaming landscape, many of these changes can be linked to Fortnite or Epic Games.

With Destiny 2, players can expect even more cool-looking items with unique benefits than in Fortnite’s “looter shooter” components.

Many PvP game variants can take advantage of Destiny 2’s excellent weapons and class-based skills, even if it doesn’t have a battle royale mode..

Totally Accurate Battlegrounds

Developer: Landfall

Totally Accurate Battlegrounds was originally created as an April Fool’s Day joke, but it has since become a cult favorite among gamers who can’t get enough of the game’s absurd physics-based shenanigans. For fans of the over-the-top war sim Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (also known as TABS) from developer Landfall, this is a welcome diversion into the world of battle royales.

Players in a battle royale game must scavenge for weapons and fight to the death in a map with a rapidly diminishing safety net.

The TABS physics engine, used in the game, causes the characters’ movements to be exaggerated, which is where the game really excels. A wide range of effects is possible, from flailing arms while running to characters being thrown back by weapon recoil.

Splatoon 2

Developer: Nintendo

Fans of Fortnite’s comical art style will likely enjoy Splatoon 2, another non-battle royale shooter. It was developed by Nintendo for the Switch and features four teams of four competing in a variety of modes based on ink-powered weaponry and gadgets. In Turf Wars, the goal is to cover as much ground as possible with your team’s ink color while racking up as many deaths as possible. In addition, new maps, modes, and gear are always being introduced to keep things interesting and new.

However, Splatoon 2 includes a slew of innovative new PvP mechanics, such as King of the Hill and Capture the Flag. Players in a PvE game called Salmon Run must work together to take down large bosses and minions that each have a different weakness. Like Fortnite’s “Save the World” mode, except with fish instead of zombies, this game mode is similar.

Hyper Scape

Developer: Ubisoft

Keep Hyper Scape on your radar, but it’s too early to know where it will end up at the top of the battle royale pyramid. Free-to-play plus Twitch connection and a few distinguishing features enable Hyper Scape stand out from the crowd. For starters, the game’s map and characters have a cyberpunk aspect to it.

Everything has a cutting-edge, futuristic appearance, and the fast-paced action just adds to it. Fast character movement and combat are based on double-jumping, automantling and flashy powers. There is an emphasis on verticality.”

If you’ve been playing Fortnite for a while and are looking for a new experience, Hyper Scape’s neo-urban setting may be for you.

Cuisine Royale

Darkflow Software is the company behind this app.

Although Cuisine Royale was designed as a prank, it’s still rather popular in 2022. PvP battle with realistic weaponry, mystical traps, and the ever-elusive satanic rituals are provided by the game. Players begin their journey by spawning at an undetermined location on the world and must then search for weapons and equipment (represented as kitchenware).

Wearing too much armor will make your character’s pots and pans slam against each other, causing them to create a lot of noise.

There are enough HP-restoring baguettes and driveable autos in the game to satisfy even the most ravenous player. Cuisine Royale may appeal to those who enjoy Fortnite’s more outlandish and absurd elements.

Minecraft Survival Games

Developer: Mojang

Many Fortnite users mention Minecraft as the game that first sparked their interest in the game or the other way around. There are many more similarities between the two than merely the mechanics they employ. Minecraft’s environment is rendered using blocks, whereas Fortnite’s is rendered with smoother edges and more organic shapes, both of which emphasize bright and joyful colors.

The lack of a default battle royale mode in Minecraft can be rectified by joining a custom PC server that hosts survival games.

The rules are roughly the same as in Fortnite, despite the fact that their names range from “Hunger Games” to “Last Man Standing” to “Battle Royale.” Fortnite’s slick controls may not be perfect, but it’s near enough, and you never know, you might meet some new people in one of the numerous close-knit communities.

Super Animal Royale

Developer: Pixile

Players can choose from a wide variety of furry digital avatars, including a vicious fox, a homicidal panda, and a lethal sloth, in Super Animal Royale, which is currently available in Early Access on Steam. Your adventure begins on an exotic island strewn with death-dealing weapons like automatic rifles, machine guns, grenades, and more once you select your character.

Super Animal Royale | Xbox

Players can participate in up to 64-player matches that offer a wide range of gaming options beyond simply killing and looting. For starters, you can use the “fog of war” camouflage mechanism to creep about the island’s many biomes.

Several hidden things can be found by exploring the map’s tall grass and other spots.

Paladins

It was created by Hi-Rez Studios.

In spite of its reputation as an Overwatch clone, Paladins has a lot more in common with Fortnite than you may think. Free-to-play, colorful and cartoonish maps/characters and free/premium battle pass tiers are all features of both games. As a first-person shooter, it has an identical TTK (time to kill) to Fortnite, making it simple to move between the two.

In addition, Paladins is a great way to get started with the shooter/MOBA genre. The game’s objectives are clear, and there are more than 40 playable characters referred to as “Champions,” each with a unique play style.

Players can also personalize their appearance in the same way they can in Fortnite by using multiple character/weapon skins and mounts. Even if building loadouts has a greater level of complexity, the game can still be enjoyed on a more casual basis.

Spellbreak

Proletariat Inc. is the company behind this project.

Spellbreak might be compared to Fortnite, however instead of weaponry and buildings, it features magic spells. In terms of characters and locations, the game’s art style is comparable to that of Fortnite, but it’s greatly influenced by fantasy. The “Breaker,” a powerful mage with the capacity to cast spells utilizing magic-enhanced gauntlets, is the focus of the battle royale mode.

The elemental nature of spells causes them to be divided into various categories, each with their own special effects. Poison, for example, deals harm over time, while fire damages the enemy by burning them. There is a cooldown for each power, but fresh ones can be picked up anywhere on the battlefield and swapped in and out as needed.

Like Fortnite, it pushes you to experiment with different powers until you find the best combination.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

Developer: Mediatonic

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, a platformer with a battle royale twist, is scheduled for release in August 2020. Up to 60 people compete in obstacle courses reminiscent of a game show while piloting charming and chubby critters decked out in bright bodysuits. In order to eliminate as many of the competitors as possible, each round features more difficult obstacles.

Fall Guys isn’t without its problems, despite the lack of shooting or construction that Fortnite fans have come to love. Movement might be difficult and unpredictable for the characters you play as because of their very tiny legs.

This, combined with the opportunity to customize your character with a variety of cosmetics, makes for a humorous and over-the-top battle royale reminiscent of Fortnite.

PUBG: Battlegrounds

Price: Free

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, better known as PUBG, had long reigned supreme in the Battle Royale genre before Fortnite arrived. Similar to Fortnite in terms of 99 vs. 1 action, but with a much more somber, realistic, and compelling tone than the latter. For the first time ever, players of all operating systems can unite in five distinct battlegrounds to fight for their lives. If you want a realistic battle royale experience without having to worry about your opponents building a fort every time you shoot at them, then PUBG is the game for you.

Halo Infinite

Price: Free

Halo Infinite has shown to be a worthy sequel to classics like Halo 3 and Reach, despite some understandable gripes about the advancement system that are already being addressed. While speculation and rumors about the inclusion of a Battle Royale mode are still prevalent, the multiplayer itself features large arenas, colorful weapons, and a full multiplayer experience that is easy to learn after a few bouts of play. Furthermore, multiplayer in Halo Infinite is both free to play and cross-platform compatible.

Ring of Elysium

Price: Free

Ring of Elysium features the severity and FPS quality of PUBG, but with a dash of Fortnite’s humor thrown in for good measure. Would anyone be interested in seeing a real cat inside a bubble-windowed carry backpack? All of us, to be precise.. As a combat royale game that will have you fleeing the ash storm on your BMX across Europa or atop a skimobile on Dione, it not only has an outstanding character creation engine (really, I could play with those knobs all day long). There is no doubt that we’re smitten and you should be too.

Minecraft

Price: $19.99

Many servers are still dedicated to Hunger Games/Battle Royale/Last Man Standing deathmatches that have been around for years in Minecraft. In the blocky world of Minecraft, communities like Mineplex are the best at providing balanced and competitive rounds. In light of Minecraft’s emphasis on destruction and creation, it was only a matter of time before Battle Royale was introduced. Of course, combat in Minecraft will never be as seamless as it is in Fortnite, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a lot of fun. It’s also kid-friendly!

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

Price: $19.99

Do anything you want, but don’t go over the edge! It’s time for the fall guys: Battle Royale platformer Ultimate Knockout is inspired by Total Wipeout/Castle Takeshi’s and features scores of players teetering perilously to the finish line. A colorful obstacle course ensures that even while you don’t always battle, you are always competing, whether it’s racing to the finish line, trying to outlast other players, or participating in sports minigames against each other.

Worms Rumble

Price: $10.99

Worms is no longer a turn-based game, but rather a third-person shooter. More than 30 people may battle it out in Worms Rumble’s massive arena while real-time fuses burn away in all of your favorite weapons from the original Worms games. Fortnite’s cartoony art design and chaotic combat feel like a natural fit for people who appreciate the game’s style. Petting lambs is strictly prohibited.

Fortnite: Save the World

Price: $39.99

Why not acquire more Fortnite instead of a game like Fortnite? Before there was a battle royale mode, there was a premium release called Save the World. In this cooperative tower defense game, you and your teammates will construct defenses before a wave of monsters is unleashed on the area, which you will have to take out jointly. For those who enjoy Fortnite’s basic art style and shooting/building gameplay, it’s a worthy investment of your time.

Fortnite: Save the World Loot Llama Purchasers to Receive 1,000 V-Bucks

There are other ways to play Fortnite, but this is the easiest way to avoid the cartoonish building gameplay if you don’t enjoy battle royale. Try Save the World instead. Despite the fact that you must pay to access the full single-player or co-op game, you are rewarded with an extensive single-player or co-op adventure in which you must defend yourself against zombie-like creatures known as husks and save any remaining survivors. Even though Fortnite’s battle royale mode is considerably more popular, Save the World has a lot to offer.

GTA Online

With Grand Theft Auto V, massively multiplayer games were redefined long before people were fighting over chicken meals. It was in this decade that GTA Online laid the groundwork for games to become social places, and it is still a bustling hub of activity, with new features being added weekly. Is GTA Online a good fit for those who enjoy Fortnite’s social areas and the opportunity to create an online persona? It is included in Grand Theft Auto V but may be purchased separately for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.

Ultimate Knockout

There can only be one winner and many many losers when you take control of a creature that’s supposed to be an unholy hybrid of man and animal, according to the official legend of Fall Guys. In spite of the fact that it sounds like a Squid Game-like game influenced by Fortnite, the game’s metaverse constantly increases, allowing you to dress up your avatar in Tron and Godzilla-themed clothing and accessories.

With dozens of games you can participate in during any run, Fall Guys has done an incredible job in striking its own route forward since it started last year. Consoles, PC, and iOS all have Fall Guys.

Naraka: Bladepoint

Although Naraka Bladepoint doesn’t have as many participants as some other similar games, it still manages to find a sweet spot of competitive fun that doesn’t go on for too long. With seven different warriors to choose from and an island just big enough for one fierce brawler, Naraka: Bladepoint is an action game in the third person where every player has mastered the way of the blade.

Naraka: Bladepoint is a new take on the battle royale genre, and while it’s still in its infancy, its future seems bright. As of the PS5, Naraka will be offered on consoles for the first time.

Hunt: Showdown

A true anxiety attack in digital form, Hunt: Showdown stands apart from the rest of the games on this list. Hunt: Showdown’s desperate dash to exterminate a deadly beast hiding in the depths of its map pits you against other hunters looking to accomplish the same, and with so many restless fingers, the competition starts thinned out quickly. To emerge as the apex predator in that game is an extremely rewarding and heart-pounding experience, made even more so by that eerie backstabbing environment. Hunt: Showdown is playable on PS4, Xbox One, and the personal computer (PC).

CRSED: F.O.A.D.

CRSED: F.O.A.D. is still a fantastic multiplayer shooter with battle royale aspects, despite the game’s ominous-sounding moniker. The uniqueness of this Fortnite comes from the fact that it began as an April Fools joke and has since taken on a life of its own. By 2020, CRSED: F.O.A.D. had grown into a sarcastic poke at the entire battle royale genre, with to the game’s kitchenware armor, hideously noisy vehicles, and devil-may-care attitude. It can be played on both consoles and PCs.

Darwin Project

Darwin Project, despite its superficial resemblance to Fortnite, seems like the complete antithesis of that game. Due to the lack of weaponry and the fact that ten people can compete on each map, you’ll be relying on your strategy more than just your reflexes in this game. A diminishing playerbase led to Darwin Project’s demise and the studio’s withdrawal of support after the game’s release. You should still set aside some time in your diary for this game that deserved better if you can find someone to play a few rounds with you.

Pokemon

If you ask me, I can attest that Pokemon is a great game to try if you’re looking for something similar to Fortnite but less physically demanding. You can’t go wrong with either of these series’ eye-popping graphics or expansive worlds full of characters to acquire and battle. Even more strikingly, as you progress through a Pokemon zone, it shrinks in size. Eventually, you’ll stand alone at the top of the Pokemon world, having fought your way past all the other trainers and gym leaders to get there, and then you can face the Elite Four. Those aspects of Fortnite’s battle to the death that should resonate well with every fan. There are Pokemon Sword and Shield and Diamond and Pearl remakes available for Nintendo Switch.

Roblox

If you can think it, you can build it in Roblox. And blow it up that is, alongside a new gang of friends that you’ll make in this massively social sandbox of creativity. Find the right group, and Roblox becomes an invaluable first step into the world of game development for the younger members of your family. Roblox is available on PC and mobile devices.

Minecraft

Roblox allows you to create anything you can imagine. Blow it up, that is, with your new group of friends you’ll meet in this massively social sandbox of creative expression. Roblox can be a great entry point for your children into the world of video game development if they can find the right group to join. Roblox is available on PC and mobile devices.

In Roblox, anything you can imagine can be built. Along with a new group of pals that you’ll meet in this enormously communal sandbox of creativity, that is. In the proper hands, Roblox may be a great introduction to the world of video game development for your children. Play Roblox on your computer or mobile device!

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves

Is this a creative approach? Check. Is there a huge map to be explored? Check. You may or may not be targeted by other players. Although Rare’s fun maritime adventure may be low on combat, it certainly has a social feature that will appeal to Epic’s mega-popular game’s players, so that’s a double check on the list comparing Sea of Thieves to Fortnite. Sea of Thieves continues to impress with its focus on providing you with the best seafaring experience with pals, despite being infinitely wetter and holding a considerably wider assortment of sea shanties.

See what we had to say about Sea of Thieves in our video game review.

Trove

Trove

If you can get past the voxel skin, Trove is much more than a Minecraft clone blended with Fortnite. For those looking for an action-packed adventure that includes RPG aspects like amazing riches and countless monsters to smack around, Trove is the game for you. When you dig deeper, you’ll find some interesting alterations to the standard MMORPG concept.
