Years of hardware improvements and a steady stream of digital games have made playing games on a laptop or PC more accessible and enjoyable than ever before.

That’s fantastic for those who can afford to run a high-end graphics processing unit (GPU) like the RTX 3080, but many of us have to make do with less.

The good news is that even the most “potato” PCs and laptops can run a number of fantastic games.

We’ll be focusing on these in this list: The Top Games You Can Play on a Budget PC that won’t tax your system while still providing plenty of entertainment.

Keep checking back for more game updates and let us know if any of your favorite low-spec games weren’t included.

West of Loathing

Required Minima

Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2.8 GHz
GPU: 512 MB
RAM size: 2 GB

To kick things off, let’s talk about West of Loathing, a comedic role-playing video game in which stick-figure cowboys explore a surreal Western landscape.

The game takes place in a monochromatic, hand-drawn open world populated by oddballs of dubious morality who offer equally offbeat quests.

Turn-based battles are peppered with jokes, but the real fun is in forming relationships with the various NPCs.

Any fan of western-themed games or someone looking for a fun PC title that won’t put a strain on older computers should check it out.

Civilization VI

The Bare Minimum:

Dual 2.5 GHz Intel Core i3 and AMD Phenom II 2.6 GHz processors
Visual Processing Unit: 1 GB AMD 5570, NVidia 450, or Intel Integrated Graphics 530
Data Storage: 4 GB RAM

Sid Meier’s series has been around for a long time, but each new installment still manages to improve upon previous ones in subtle ways.

Civilization VI, the most recent installment, has a new “religion” condition that allows you to win the game by converting the world to a single faith, so we’ve decided to highlight that.

Turn-based actions that have an impact on your alliance status with neighboring nations over the course of hundreds of years to thousands of years are central to the gameplay, as they are in most 4X games.

As with its predecessors, Civ 6 can be played without an internet connection, and its system requirements are low enough that virtually any PC or laptop will suffice.

Loop Hero

The Bare Minimum:

Core Processors: Intel Core2 Duo E4500 / AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3600
Processing Units: Radeon X1300 Pro, GeForce 7300 GT
RAM of 2 Gigabytes

Loop Hero is an innovative tactics game with an auto battler vibe and roguelike mechanics, playable on most computers.

It involves equipping a hero with potent weapons and sending them on a mission through a randomly generated loop filled with a wide variety of enemies and other obstacles.

As you progress through the game and complete loops, your deck grows to include more powerful enemies, buildings, and terrain that can be strategically placed to generate more of the resources needed to level up your base.

The game’s infinite loop and unlockable character classes will force you to try new strategies with each playthrough.

Among Us

The Bare Minimum:

Support for SSE2 instruction sets in the CPU
GPU: Any
Storage: 1GB RAM

Among Us is a multiplayer social deduction game played online in which players attempt to finish missions despite constant interference from unseen Imposters.

If you’re playing the Imposter, your objective is to pit the other players against each other so you can eliminate them more quickly.

The Crew also has the option of cooperating until they either find the traitors or finish their missions and escape.

It’s not a particularly complex game, so it should run fine on even older or less powerful computers.

Welcome to Elk

Required Minima

Intel i5 Quad-Core Processor
Graphics Processing Unit: Intel HD 4000
Storage: 4GB RAM

Welcome to Elk is the kind of game you might enjoy if you prefer your entertainment to be more solo-focused.

It’s an Adventure game in which you play as Frigg, a young carpenter from the big city who moves to Elk, a small island populated by a strange bunch of people.

Frigg becomes engrossed in the stories of the locals, who all have interesting perspectives to share based on their own personal experiences.

Welcome to Elk’s minigames are fun and effective representations of the various objectives you’ll be tasked with achieving.

Disco Elysium

Required Minima

Core 2 Duo processor (Intel)
Graphics Processing Unit: Dedicated or built-in card with 512 MB or more of video memory
RAM of 2 Gigabytes

In Disco Elysium, you play the role of a detective who is tasked with solving the murder of a man who was discovered hanging from a tree.

The developer, ZA/UM, did us all a favor by patching the game so that it is now playable on lower-end machines as well as mid- and high-end ones.

The story unfolds in the made-up city of Revachol, where a failed communist revolution has created political instability.

While navigating your own insecurities, you’ll have plenty of chances to poke and prod around the personal beliefs and biases of NPCs as you hunt for clues and potential leads.

A Monster’s Expedition

Required Minima

CPU: Support for the SSE2 instruction set
Graphics Processing Unit (GPU): 256 MB ATI or NVidia, or Intel HD Graphics 3000
RAM of 2 Gigabytes

Draknek & Friends’ latest puzzle game, A Monster’s Expedition, is the latest in a series with only tangential connections.

The fantastic puzzle designs seen in previous games return in this installment as well.

The premise is simple: you take on the role of a monster who wears a backpack and travels the world to absorb as much human culture as possible.

The world you’ll explore is expansive and full of life, with numerous islands connected by bridges that hide devilishly easy puzzles.

Untitled Goose Game

Required Minima

Core 2 Duo E8400 by Intel®
graphical processing unit: NVIDIA GeForce 510
The Memory Has A Capacity Of 4GB RAM

Untitled Goose Game is a humorous, if simplified, stealth experience revolving around one misbehaving goose. It has also been responsible for some of the best chicken-related memes of all time.

You play as a crazy goose that enjoys annoying humans as you explore sandbox levels full of jokes and interactive objects.

Even though UGG’s stealth gameplay isn’t exactly ground-breaking, it makes for a funny diversion nonetheless.

The inclusion of a cooperative mode, in which a friend can take control of a second goose, is a nice touch as well.

Slay the Spire

Required Minima

Microprocessor Speed: 2 GHz
One gigabyte of video RAM, OpenGL 3.0
RAM of 2 Gigabytes

Each run through Slay the Spire, a card strategy game inspired by 2D roguelites, is different from the last.

Every playthrough features a new cast of characters with different histories and initial conditions.

The objective is to reach the top of a spire by navigating a series of floors, each with its own set of challenges and potential rewards.

You can stop for a while at campfires, buy more cards from merchants, and set off special events as you travel.

Amid Evil

Required Minima

The processor operates at 2.5 GHz.
Intel HD Graphics 4400
Having a RAM of 4GB is a lot

Like the likes of Unreal Tournament, Doom, Quake, and Heretic, Amid Evil is a throwback first-person shooter.

You play the role of “The Champion,” a skilled warrior entrusted by the gods with the responsibility of using a holy battle-ax to vanquish evil across various dimensions.

This ax can cast spells, fire elemental projectiles, and land a solid blow on an opponent’s noggin.

It’s a challenging game that requires quick reflexes and constant movement, but it can be played smoothly even on budget computers.

Minecraft

Required Minima

Processing Units: Intel Core i3 3210 and AMD A8 7600
Graphics processing units (GPU): Intel HD Graphics 4000, AMD Radeon R5/HD 7000, NVIDIA GeForce 400
The Memory Has A Capacity Of 4GB RAM

Easily the most well-known title here, Minecraft is a must for fans of open world survival games and creative building.

Most players are already familiar with the gameplay loop, in which they break blocks to obtain materials and then craft items like tools, weapons, furniture, etc.

The fact that it can be played on practically any computer contributes to Minecraft’s widespread acclaim.

Furthermore, there are Minecraft mods available that reduce the game’s requirements for older computers.

Celeste

Required Minima

Core i3 M380 by Intel®
Graphics Processing Unit: Intel HD 4000
RAM of 2 Gigabytes

Celeste, a 2D action-platformer with a high default difficulty but widespread critical acclaim, strikes the ideal balance between the two.

Madeline, the protagonist, is a girl who, in order to get away from her humdrum life, decides to hike up a mysterious mountain.

Players advance the plot by completing a set of carefully crafted platforming levels that require them to jump and dash between platforms with pinpoint accuracy.

Players who enjoy a good challenge will appreciate Celeste’s hidden collectibles and remixed ‘B-Side’ stages, both of which increase the game’s replay value.

Into the Breach

The Bare Minimum:

Microprocessor Speed: 1,7 GHz
Graphics Processing Unit (GPU): Intel HD 3000
RAM Memory Size: 1GB

Subset Games, creators of the critically acclaimed FTL: Faster Than Light, are also responsible for publishing the turn-based strategy game Into the Breach.

The player’s goal is to help humanity defeat the Vek, a horde of monsters from the distant future.

In this game, you fight battles using soldier-controlled mechs armed with a wide array of weapons and armor.

The game, like FTL, consists of missions set in procedurally generated environments.

Opus Magnum

Required Minima

Microprocessor Speed: 2 GHz
OpenGL 3.0, 1366 x 768 resolution, GPU
Data Storage: 4GB RAM

In Opus Magnum, you play the part of an alchemist while solving programming puzzles.

You’ll use a transmutation engine that lets you rearrange atoms of different elements to create potions, poisons, and more.

In each mission, you’ll be given a variety of mechanical arms and tracks to use in constructing a custom framework for the objective at hand.

The early stages of the game have you brewing simple potions that require little thought, but the difficulty quickly increases.

Cuphead

Required Minima

Intel Core2 Duo E8400 and AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000, both 3 GHz, serve as the central processing units.
Display Processors: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT, AMD HD 3870 512MB
Storage: 3GB RAM

Cuphead is reminiscent of difficult run-and-gun games, like those from the 1990s and 2000s, in which players had to learn the patterns of enemy attacks in order to survive.

The game does a great job of making you feel safe with its charming hand-drawn characters and environments, only to shock you with its sinister undertones.

You play the title character, Cuphead, as he takes on a variety of enemies and settles an old debt with the Devil.

These drawn-out skirmishes put your platforming skills to the test and your endurance to the limit, but the payoff is well worth it if only for the spectacle.

Darkest Dungeon

The Bare Minimum:

CPU: None
Graphics Processing Unit: Open GL 3.2 Compliant
The memory is 2GB.

Few games are as successful as Darkest Dungeon in fusing Lovecraftian horror with dungeon crawling.

The game is a turn-based role-playing experience in which players assemble, educate, and lead a band of heroes through perilous 2D worlds.

There are over 16 different character classes to choose from, each with their own set of strengths and weaknesses that can be combined in exciting and potentially devastating ways.

Permadeath and psychological disorders that inflict paranoia, masochism, fear, irrationality, and other negative emotions on your characters only add to the drama.

Stardew Valley

Required Minima

Central Processing Unit: 2 GHz
Visual Processing Unit: 256MB
RAM of 2 Gigabytes

Stardew Valley is a 2D farming simulation with light RPG mechanics and colorful pixel art graphics; it was inspired by the popular Harvest Moon series.

In it, you take control of a fictional farmer who must restore his grandfather’s decrepit farm in order to make a living for himself and his family.

Stardew Valley

The day/night cycle forces players to think strategically about how they’ll spend their time, whether that’s in the mines, with NPCs, in the fields, or at the local watering hole.

The citizens of Stardew each have their own unique personalities that allow you to form relationships with them, whether that be platonic or romantic.

Dead Cells

Required Minima

Central Processing Unit (CPU): Intel i5
Processing Unit: NVIDIA 450 GTS, Radeon HD 5750
RAM of 2 Gigabytes

Dead Cells is a 2D roguelike that features combat and exploration of randomly generated levels.

On each run, you’ll explore a vast 2D maze in search of dangerous bosses and their minions, collecting resources to upgrade your arsenal along the way.

If a player dies, they will return to the beginning of their run with a small amount of extra supplies.

This is fundamental to Dead Cells’ gameplay loop, as it forces you to risk death in order to progress.

RimWorld

Renovate Your Edge Lot House With:An Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 1 GB of free storage space.

There are equal parts Dungeons & Dragons, real-time strategy, and ant farm in RimWorld. The player does not control a specific character, but rather acts as a third-person DM tasked with ensuring the survival of a group of “pawns” on a dangerous alien world. In RimWorld, you and your friends tell a story together while deciding how you want it to end. The game’s tone was “inspired by Dwarf Fortress, Firefly, and Dune,” if that helps. There is always the risk of starvation or death from the elements, in addition to pirate raiders, marauding aliens, insectile horrors of the deep, and other such calamities. Your ship has crash-landed on a random rimworld in the beginning of the game. It will soon be night. Construct a safe haven!

The Steam Workshop in RimWorld is teeming with player-created content, story additions, and quality-of-life enhancements for modders. It takes longer to load with a lot of add-ons, just like in Minecraft. But that’s not why my recorded gaming time exceeds 600 hours. As addicting as Civ is, this game is even more so.

Portal, Portal 2

Now We Can Move ForwardTesting:While a Core 2 Duo is recommended for Portal 2, a Pentium 4 will suffice for the original game. You’ll need 4 GB of RAM and 1 GB of free space to play either game.

When compiling a list of games playable on a potato, how could Portal be left out? You haven’t lived until you’ve played the Portal games. They’re a hodgepodge of spatial annoyances that will force you to start thinking in terms of portals. Avoid lasers, encounter shocking levels of betrayal, and plunge headfirst through wormholes. The cooperative gameplay in Portal 2 is also available. Cave Johnson, Tenzin, and J. Jonah Jameson are all voiced by the same deadpan genius for the benefit of the fandom.

Faster Than Light

Needed to save the galaxy are: a movable ruler. This game has the lowest system requirements, no joke. A 2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 175MB of free space on your hard drive are required. However, FTL only necessitates a 128MB graphics card capable of 1280 x 720 resolution and OpenGL 2.0.

Do you like pixel art and chiptunes as much as you like spaceships? If that’s the case, FTL could be a fantastic choice for your next marathon session. Faster Than Light is a small, low-overhead “spaceship simulation roguelike-like” that offers a lot of replayability. Explore a procedurally generated galaxy with your ship and crew, full of opportunities for glory and crushing defeat. If you die, you have to start over, but that’s okay because you get another chance.

Old School Runescape

For some retro fun, try: A roughly i3 processor with 2GHz capability. In addition, you’ll need a mobile device that meets the system requirements and a broadband internet connection or 4 GB of RAM.

You don’t have to pay a dime to play this massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) set in a low-poly medieval paradise created by Blizzard. How about player versus player (PVP) games? Puzzles? Parkour? There is a bewildering array of potential abilities to hone in RuneScape. There are many possible strategies for engaging in this activity. It reminds me of Second Life. You have the ability to fend for yourself (through hunting, fishing, gathering, and preparing food). As a murder hoboTM, you can complete slayer quests anywhere and earn experience. You can buy a house and furnish it if you want to settle down. There are no set classes, and you can increase your stats however you see fit. Would you like to become a wizard? Some sort of archer? Who is this, a paladin? You have complete control over the abilities of your avatar.

Braid

Use your wits to navigate the past and you can: System requirements include a processor running at 1.4GHz or higher, 200MB of available storage space, and 1GB of RAM, minimum. Needs DirectX 9. Compatible with Windows XP.

The main character in this 2D puzzle platformer has become “unstuck” in time. In this game, the player controls a character who must make their way through a painterly world in which only some things advance along time’s arrow. Central to the gameplay is the ability to rewind time and otherwise manipulate the timeline. You’re immune to defeat and death. Whereas roguelikes and open-world RPGs with lots of grinding (cough, ARK, cough“Your time and attention are valuable to us,” says Braid. The game doesn’t punish you for getting puzzles wrong by stopping your progress. You can continue playing and come back to it when you’re ready if you get stuck.

A toaster could play this game. However, before you commit to the full game’s price, you can check out the free demo on Steam.

Super Meat Boy

Reach Exciting New Levels of Rage If You Possess These The minimum requirements are a 1.4GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 300MB of free disk space. Uses DirectX 9; Windows XP is supported.

The 2D platformer Super Meat Boy has amassed a devoted fan base for good reason. Shout your joy as you successfully complete the wall jump and move past the obstacle you’ve been struggling with for the past hour. The gamepad is supported, and the controls for the keyboard and mouse are tight and responsive.

Super Meat Boy Forever is the sequel, but critics are divided on whether or not it’s any good. The general opinion is that SMBF is more of an expansion pack in terms of gameplay and story than a brand new game.

Bejeweled 3

Challenge the mighty Smaug by using: You’ll need a processor with a clock speed of at least 1.2GHz, 128MB of video RAM, and 1GB of total system memory. Additionally, about 320MB of storage space is required.

Bejeweled is the most chill of the cool games. It’s an excellent method for relaxing during a pomodoro break. To form a line of three or more, swap adjacent pairs of the sparkling jewels. The core concept is expanded upon in various game modes. Bejeweled is playable and enjoyable in the Endless mode.withlike having a wingman to help you pull off impressive sequences of moves. There are also stressful timed and turn-based modes like this one, called “Butterflies,” that require strategy on the fly. I have wasted an indecent amount of time trying to make one more trade in the hopes of hearing “EXTRAORDINARYThis game is great for kids because it doesn’t have any optional purchases within the app.

Creeper World 4

Use This to Fight the Never-Ending Flow of Goo Any 64-bit dual-core 2GHz CPU, 3GB of RAM, and 2GB of storage are required.

Take control of an army and fight the strange blue goo that’s bent on world conquest. The first 3D Creeper game is Creeper World 4. The difficulty of the battles is consistently high enough to keep players interested without overwhelming them at any point. The best part is that you can try it out for free in a demo version on Steam before actually purchasing it.

Bloons TD 6

Hit Balloon-Based Enemies with Darts, Bombs, and Nukes Driven By Minimum requirements include a 64-bit 1.5GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, Windows 10, and a graphics card that supports OpenGL 2.0.

You can tell that Bloons TD 6 was originally developed for mobile devices. This tower defense game with a monkey theme is a complete… Keep those pesky balloons (or “bloons”) from breaching your defenses as long as possible. (Do wild monkeys and balloons fight each other?) Select a Hero, recruit a Monkey tower team, and proceed through dozens of levels by popping, zapping, scorching, and gluing your way to victory. Underneath its colorful, cartoony exterior, Bloons has a surprising amount of depth. The challenge levels are almost AFK and completely insane.

Hotline Miami 1 and 2

Kill the Russian Mafia as Long as You Have Weapons CPU: Core 2 Duo @ 2.4GHz, Memory: 1GB, Graphics: DirectX 9.

Both Hotline Miami games were critically acclaimed for their originality in terms of setting, gameplay, and narrative. In the first game, you play as an anonymous protagonist dubbed “Jacket” by the player base. The year is 1989, and the setting is a dark, stylized version of Miami. Your Mission? Get rid of the Russian mafia here in town. The events and consequences of your choices are explored in Hotline Miami 2, giving the story more depth. It also answers the question of what became of Jacket after your rampage by jumping ahead to 1991.

Brutal Doom

Slaughter hellspawn, liquify demons, and reduce your enemies to sludge with the power of: A 256MB VRAM GPU, 2GB of RAM, and a dual-core CPU will do.

Compared to the other games here, Brutal Doom stands out as unique. You’ll have to put in some effort, and you’ll need the full versions of Doom and Doom 2, as well as any shareware or modified WAD files you want to use. The steps for setup are outlined in this document.anda list of links to free maps that work well with the mod but aren’t included in the official WADs.

If Doom were remade today using a state-of-the-art first-person shooter engine, it would look and play like Brutal Doom. The standard issue starting pistol now has some new and improved alternatives. Firearms can now be loaded mechanically. Some previously inaccessible enemy weapons can now be found and used, and replacements for the Plasma Rifle and BFG 9000 can be obtained. Mouselook, aiming, and jumping are all features that have been implemented. There’s a new fatality mode, higher levels of challenge, and a fast rolling motion to avoid fire.

Poly Bridge

As a civil engineer, you must: CPU: Pentium 4, RAM: 2GB, GPU: GeForce 7200 GS, HDD: 150MB.

In the vein of classics like The Incredible Machine, Poly Bridge is a fantastic puzzle game. In this scenario, you are tasked with designing affordable bridges that can accommodate a specified volume of traffic. These two objectives may seem easy at first, but they become more challenging as you progress through the game’s more than 60 levels due to the introduction of new hazards and the requirement to employ construction techniques that I’m fairly certain would be frowned upon by the Army Corps of Engineers.

There was recently a sequel released (which I have not tried). One reviewer noted that it felt more like an expansion pack to the original, suggesting that critics were less enthusiastic about it than they were about Poly Bridge. However, it has received glowing reviews on Steam.

Disco Elysium

Stumble Drunkenly at a Good FPS by Using: PC with Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB RAM, 20GB hard drive, and 512MB video card.

You play the role of a drug- and alcohol-addled detective with short-term memory loss in Disco Elysium. Given how often this occurs in games, you’d think someone was responsible for making sure amateur sleuths didn’t forget their own names.

You’ll learn more about yourself as you investigate a murder. To help you develop your character further, a set of traits will be available to you. The 24 available skills all have an effect on the game’s progression. If you pick the wrong (or right) ones, you might find yourself debating the best option with yourself. Disco Elysium was named Game of the Year by multiple outlets and is compatible with systems from 2004.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

Try Finding Debris On 6-gigabytes of RAM, 8-gigabytes of hard drive space, Core i5-760, Phenom II X4 965, GeForce GTX 580, AMD Radeon 7870 HD.

This tabletop game combines elements of XCOM and Fallout.Zero Mutant Year game. Most of the gameplay elements are identical to those found in modern XCOM games. Mutant Year Zero combines XCOM’s gameplay with some light role-playing elements, giving you direct control of your squad outside of combat.

The worst thing we can say about Mutant Year Zero is that you may need to do some online research to figure out which keys do what. The game’s story and dystopian setting are reminiscent of classic Fallout. Although it lacks the depth of those massive games, a sequel vibe is still present. For lack of a better phrase, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden has the feel of an “AA” game. Fairly well-polished with worthy goals, but don’t expect 400 hours of gameplay.

World of Warcraft Classic

Check Out the Stunning Molten Center if You Have Is your computer up to date?literally mature enough to seek elective office? No? Nothing is wrong with you. Core 2 Duo E6600, Phenom X3 8750, 8800 GT, Radeon HD 4850, or Intel HD Graphics 4000 are the official system requirements. Unofficially, it’s possible to run Classic with fewer resources. I tried it out on a 2015 Razer Blade Stealth with Intel 520 HD graphics, and the frame rate was good enough to suggest that the laptop’s graphics could benefit from being upgraded. Curiously, a DX11 GPU isn’t specified as a necessity for playing WoW Classic.

Return to a time when massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) that take place primarily in the outdoors and require players to congregate in large groups didn’t feel fantastical (at least not for those reasons). Whether you loved or hated the original World of Warcraft, you’ll find something to enjoy in WoW Classic. Just so we’re clear, I’m a biased fan, but that doesn’t make me wrong.

World of Warcraft is back to its roots with the release of World of Warcraft: Classic.that many). The original version of Blizzard’s MMORPG classic has a lot going for it, especially if you’re a fan of games from this era. Although it runs on the latest WoW engine, Blizzard recycled a lot of content from the original WoW. The end result is a game that can be played smoothly on a low-end computer, such as an AMD ultrabook with Carrizo processors or a computer with Intel’s integrated graphics.

Untitled Goose Game

To pursue someone aggressively with 4GB RAM, 820MB storage, Core 2 Duo 8500 processor, Nvidia GeForce 510 graphics card. If you’re looking for a midrange or high-end card from 2011, anything above the 510 is from 2011. You should be good to go if your GPU supports DirectX 11.

The goal of Untitled Goose Game is to bring out your inner Canadian goose. Yup. Don’t be fooled by appearances. The protagonist of this game is an unrepentant jerk. Untitled Goose Game is another game that can be played on pretty much any toaster you can dig out of the back of the cupboard, as the fun of honking and flapping does not require a powerful computer.

Honk. Flap. To harass or annoy someone. Intrude upon restricted areas. Take things without paying for them, fool people, annoy animals, and then do it all over again. It’s perfect for gamers who are bored by “typical” games but still want to have some lighthearted fun.

Arkham City

Fly High Over The Big Apple Specifications: 2GB RAM, Nvidia 8800 GT or AMD Radeon 3850 graphics, 2.4GHz dual-core processor. XP support is included.

Instead of switching to a newer game for this update, I’ll be staying with Arkham City. You can play Arkham Asylum on a much less powerful PC than you could Arkham City. However, Arkham City is the superior Batman game between the two. All of Batman’s moves get a polish, and you can play as alternate characters like Catwoman, who has her own unique moveset and animation style, in AC.

Arkham City captures what it’s like to really put yourself in Batman’s shoes. The game’s twist is also ingenious, providing an explanation for the seemingly endless waves of enemies. I recommend this game as a good starting point for anyone curious about the Arkham series. Try the original Arkham Asylum if you need a game that’s even easier on your PC.

Into the Breach

Strategic micro-combat can be calculated if you: Any CPU at 1.7GHz, 1GB of RAM, 300MB of storage, and an Intel HD 3000 IGP are required.

Into the Breach is a tactical RPG where players take turns navigating tiny 8×8 grids. From the creators of FTL comes a game where you have to use turn-based combat to fend off waves of enemies. There are no hidden probability fields like in XCOM; instead, you can see exactly what your characters and the enemies you face will do in any given situation.

Although Into the Breach was released in 2018, its innovative approach to turn-based combat continues to earn praise. Those interested in tactical role-playing games should look into it.

West of Loathing

Needs for Exploration Having to Do with Spittoons and Snakes: Core 2 Duo 7400, 2GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and an Nvidia GeForce 7200 GS. Supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 and later.

The “graphical” adventure game West of Loathing can be played on a Lite-Brite. A classic adventure game with role-playing elements, killer clowns, demon cows, snake oil salesmen, and a pile of spittoons to sift through for treasure lies beneath the game’s black-and-white stick-based graphics. The dialogue is hilarious, and the game’s irreverent sense of humor is reminiscent of the best adventure game writing from bygone eras.

Even though it was released at the tail end of 2017, West of Loathing is still a great option for anyone looking for a game that can be played on any system and provides plenty of opportunities for belly laughs.

Cuphead

Travel Back in Time to the Golden Age of Animation (and Hopefully Not Get Killed) if You Possess: 20GB HDD space, Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT / AMD Radeon HD 3870 graphics, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor, or AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 processor. Requires only DirectX 9.0c and Windows 7, though.

In our experience, Cuphead is the only game to adopt the “rubber hose” animation style popular in the early 1930s. This fast-paced 2D platformer requires quick reactions more than a powerful computer.

If you’re looking for a game that can be fairly described as “Nintendo hard” and you enjoy animation, then Cuphead is a fantastic option.

Minecraft

Relax and Fall in Love with the Skeledoot With These Helpful Resources Intel HD 4000 or a Radeon R5 graphics card from AMD or Intel’s Core i3 3210 processor. In addition, you’ll need a 1024×768 screen resolution, 180MB-1GB of hard drive space, and 4GB of RAM. Performance can suffer from excessive draw distances.

Minecraft is a lovable and entertaining sandbox game. Redstone is a core component of Minecraft, and players have used it to build everything from fully functional (albeit simplistic) computers to replicas of spaceships like the Enterprise. Minecraft is a game that anyone, no matter their gaming prowess, can pick up and play. It features a robust crafting system, hostile mobs, and expansive worlds. Supporters of the rebellion might also take heart in the fact that the game has become an international haven for press freedom, a bulwark against propaganda and censorship. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) uses the Minecraft version of the International Library of Alexandria to evade repressive firewalls like the Great Firewall of China Golden Shield.

Millions of people have been motivated to spend billions of hours stacking 8-bit voxels because of this game. The apparent lack of visual complexity belies a richness of thought and expression. Even the most hardened gamers can be taken aback by Minecraft’s ending, despite the game’s stellar reputation for crafting and construction. It’s shockingly evocative, and those in the know will understand why.

Orcs Must Die, Orcs Must Die 2

The Hens of the Plot. Protect the Order Rift by All dual-core processors above 2GHz, 256MB of video memory (VRAM), and 2GB of RAM are required. Compatible with Windows XP.

Get back to basics with some acid bombs and spring-loaded traps. Though OMD1 is great, I think you’ll enjoy OMD2 even more.

Some of our favorite games for mindless slaughter are Orcs Must Die and its sequel. There’s a horde of raiding orcs on their way, and they have to be eliminated.
