Along the way, they’ll have to dodge creepy dolls and adults in the form of sneak attacks, jumps, and even fights.

Omori

Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Mac are all supported.

The lack of creativity in RPG creator games is often blamed, however Omori shows that this isn’t always the case.

When Omori can’t recall important details of his strange background, he begins to doubt the value of his friendships and lower himself down.

Eventually, you understand that Omori’s secrets aren’t what they appear to be, and you must endeavor to uncover them through turn-based battles and exploration of the overworld.

Sehwa High School is now more dangerous than ever before, thanks to improved adversary AI and stealth mechanics.

World of Horror

Windows, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch

Taking cues from the likes of H.P. Lovecraft and Junji Ito, the turn-based horror RPG known as World of Horror offers a unique take on the genre.

In addition to the 1-bit black and white art style, the game follows a rogue-lite framework that finds you experiencing new cosmic horrors each time you play.

Old Gods have reawakened and are clawing their way to the surface, throwing the world into chaos in the process. This is the concept of the story:

Twenty-nine puzzles and more than fifty different event cards make up World of Horror. Each game offers something new and different.

Phasmophobia

The following operating systems are supported: Windows

It is a famous co-op survival game that has up to four people hunting ghosts, demons, and other spooky creatures throughout a variety of different maps.

Phasmophobia - "của lạ" trong dòng game kinh dị: Không con ma nào đáng sợ hơn con ma do bạn tự tưởng tượng ra

Once the sort of paranormal creature present has been determined, players must devise a strategy and equip themselves with tools appropriate to that type of monster.

To proceed and ensure everyone’s survival, communication and teamwork are crucial because each player can only handle a certain number of goods.

This ability does not give you the ability to control the monster itself, but you can make their lives easier by disrupting the methods of your crew.

Resident Evil Village

PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows

With its first-person fighting, Resident Evil Village maintains the series’ survival horror roots while adapting to Resident Evil 7’s format shift.

RE7 protagonist Ethan Winters and his wife Mia are enjoying a peaceful life with their newborn daughter when disaster strikes..

To save his family, Ethan is transported to a secluded snowcapped village in Romania, where he is hunted by numerous otherworldly monsters.

There is a lot of suspense in the game’s abandoned cabins, frightening dungeons, and the haunting hallways of Castle Dimitrescu.

Prey

You’ll get additional weapons, equipment, and skills as you progress through the game, which can help you gain an advantage and open up new pathways for exploration.

If you wish to save a character’s life, you’ll have to act quickly. Otherwise, you’ll have to accept the consequences and go on.

Inside

Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mac OS X, and iOS are all supported as platforms.

Limbo developer Playdead returns with another short and creepy puzzle platformer, this time in the guise of Inside.

A large part of the game’s atmosphere is put on spooky locales and characters like those in prior Playdead games.

As an anonymous young man, your mission is to solve a series of platforming puzzles in order to gain access to various levels and sections within a peculiar facility.

As there are a number of pursuit scenarios, each obstacle provides a new dynamic that forces you to rethink your approach.

Dead by Daylight

Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and more.

Online survival horror game Dead by Daylight has four players working together to escape a fifth player-controlled killer.

For the survivors, accomplishing certain tasks, such as fixing power generators that open an escape hatch, is the most important aim in the game.

At the same time, the murderer can use special powers to catch their next victim while roaming the map, listening and hunting for any signals of nearby survivors.

All of this adds up to a tense and exciting survival game, one that is made all the better by the inclusion of multiple playable characters and cross-platform functionality.

SOMA

Playstation 4, Xbox One, Mac OS X, Linux, and PlayStation 3

A survival horror game with a bit of underwater exploration, SOMA can be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates atmospheric walking simulations.

You take on the role of Simon, an AI clone that wakes up in a secret deep-sea research facility.

Wanting answers, he sets out to investigate the base, where he learns about the facility’s history, strange experiments, and the disappearances of former personnel — all while evading the base’s automated inhabitants.

As a result, one of the best sci-fi horror games comes to fruition, with twists and turns you won’t see coming.

Alien: Isolation

Playstation 4, Xbox One, Mac OS X, Linux, and PlayStation 3

As you sneak through vast space stations while being hunted by a terrifying alien, Alien: Isolation is a fantastic survival horror game that blends stealth and action with lots of jumpscares.

Alien: Isolation | Download and Buy Today - Epic Games Store

Everything goes from bad to worse when you find out that a deadly Xenomorph has climbed aboard the Sevastopol remote space station and corrupted the crew and androids.

Crafting various traps and gadgets to level the playing field is a must, but sometimes it’s best to run and hide until the situation improves.

METRO EXODUS

Exodus is an amalgamation of a variety of genres: a family drama as well as a heavy metal-scored FPS, all wrapped up in one tempting piece of Russia’s postapocalyptic landscape. However, the path to Metro Exodus’ climactic conclusion is lined with plenty of spine-tingling horror game sequences.

To make Artyom’s journey more exciting, 4A Games’ radioactive trip lets you choose whether you want Artyom’s adventure to take place during the day or at night. There are times when creeping up on your opponents in complete blackness is more terrifying than snoozing through the day. Watchmen howling or Humanimals charging at you may be immensely unnerving, even if your human foes are on the back foot.

This is a game that, as we noted in our Metro Exodus PC review, gets scarier when the rules are altered. Learning to extinguish light and master the shadows is a key part of the early stages of the game. It becomes your weapon in the spider-infested bunkers beneath the Caspian Sea. Arachnids are extremely sensitive to light, so they hide out in whatever dimly lit crevice they can locate. In Metro Exodus, you’ll never be able to let your defenses down as their hairy legs scrawl frantically against the walls.

RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE

Ethan Winters, the protagonist of Resident Evil Village, has to deal with a never-ending stream of horrors. At the beginning of the game, we see Ethan in Resident Evil 7 when he sets out on a mission to find his long-lost wife, which leads him to the Baker family’s horrific bayou cabin. It’s a good thing Chris Redfield swoops in to help Ethan; otherwise, things might not have turned out so well. In Resident Evil 8, Ethan’s world is once again flipped upside down. In this case, his only option is to spend the night in a monster-infested village. If you only remember Resident Evil Village because of the tall lady, you’re in for a nasty surprise when you play this first-person survival horror game.

The Resident Evil series has a long history of good and poor games, with Resident Evil 6 being a low point in the overall series’ history of quality. According to our Resident Evil Village review, this is a very good game. While the game is filled with hordes of werewolf-like creatures, zombies, and other terrifying enemies, you’ll have to keep your cool to survive. Even the tall lady has long, pointed claws capable of shearing off limbs from the body of a smaller animal. If you’re not a fan of body horror and dismemberment, then Resident Evil game may not be appropriate for you. ‘

The scariest moment in the series so far appears in this episode, but we won’t reveal it to you just yet. We recommend that you turn on the lights when you enter this house, unless you’re feeling a little more adventurous than usual.

THE EVIL WITHIN 2

It’s impossible to fall asleep while playing the best horror games. The Evil Within 2 screams to the top of the charts by that metric. After witnessing a horde of dismembered bodies scamper over the floor and assemble themselves into a pale meaty monster with numerous faces – all of which are laughing – and a buzzsaw in place of a right arm, it will be difficult to sleep.

The Evil Within 2 is jam-packed with these kinds of spine-tingling set pieces. It’s not only a list of the top moments in horror games that Tango Gameworks’ flawless sequel has to offer. There are open-world areas in between monster fights and creepy house exploration, and you never know what you’ll find there: a stash of much-needed shotgun shells or a sly spirit that will follow you about for the rest of your journey.

The Evil Within 2 keeps loyal to its survival horror roots, placing you against one more mad opponent than you have ammunition for at all times, even when the enemies are cleverly designed. If that’s not enough to persuade you, check out our review of The Evil Within 2.

Returnal

Returnal isn’t necessarily a scary game, but there is a strong cosmic horror vein running through the entire experience. Lovecraftian alien ruins, wrong-shaped beasts, and the fear of dying every 10 minutes make up the landscape of this time-looping roguelike. Trying this is a lot of work because it involves battling waves of creatures and seemingly insurmountable boss bouts. A disturbing plot slowly unfolds as you piece together your past and your role in it, but the overall mood is fantastic.

Slender: The Eight Pages

Even if it’s old, it’s still one of the most memorable moments in gaming history. There is no longer an option to play it online, but a free download is available. The goal is to find eight pages placed across a spooky forest location without being caught by the Slender Man.. When you find a page, he draws closer to you, making it more difficult to avoid. In spite of the potato visuals and a simple premise, it manages to be a terrible experience. It’s also fun to play against your pals and see how far they can get.

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly

The Fatal Frame series has always been unpleasant thanks to its use of Japanese horror and folklore motifs popularized by films like The Ring and Ju-on. Characters are paralyzed by terror and rely on an antiquated camera as their only defense against soul-stealing spirits. Because of this, you’ll have to face your adversaries head-on, which becomes progressively horrifying as the game progresses. We’ve narrowed it down to the second game in the series because it’s the greatest fit for our list.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly: 20 game kinh dị hay nhất mùa Halloween, chơi xong bạn sẽ không dám đi ngủ (P1) | GameK

Even though Crimson Butterfly’s visuals have improved, it still maintains a challenging but not overly annoying level of challenge. Moreover, it’s had the most compelling plot, which follows two sisters as they grapple with grief and guilt. As long as the story is more than just “survive,” it’s a good thing.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are both supported (via backwards compatibility)

Mundaun

In the vein of The Lighthouse or Midsommar, Mundaun is a bizarre, hand-drawn horror game. Your grandfather has died, and you must now reevaluate your Swiss hometown in black and white first-person perspective in order to unearth [spooky voice] an ancient family curse. A foreign movie feeling is created by the 1920s-style location and mythology, as well as the shaky penciled art, which gives the whole thing a foreign movie feel. Even if you’re not looking for a polished horror experience, this is worth the effort if you want to experience something from a different cultural perspective.

PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch

Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil Village was a hit with the people, especially Lady Dimitrescu, although it’s not the finest of the series. However, there are several standout sequences. With Castle Dimitrescu’s Gothic monsters and personalities, the first few hours of the game are very enjoyable. But House Beneviento is what makes this game a part of gaming legend. It’s one of the most chilling and satisfying escape room beats in the series to date, and it culminates in one of the best surprises. If you’re looking for a high point in video game history or genre, this is it. Otherwise, the game is enjoyable, but its heavy reliance on action and shooting weakens the game’s horrors over time, leading to a predictable conclusion that ends with a bang and a shootout triumph. It’s always entertaining, and the variety ensures that you don’t miss anything.

PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox X, Xbox One, and PC

Alan Wake

The majority of horror games aren’t like Alan Wake. It doesn’t rely on gore or jump scares to make its point; in fact, the film isn’t all that frightening. Even yet, its feeling of location and character are unmatched in the industry. Bright Falls, a mountain hamlet modeled like Twin Peaks, hides a deadly secret. This town comes to life as a character all on its own thanks to the smooth vocals of the late-night DJ and the brief glimpses of local life on television. Even the episodic pattern of each storyline surprise and reveal resembles a fascinating TV drama.

The fact that Alan Wake is a ton of joy to play is just another way the game stands apart. Maybe it’s a little harsh, but Alan Wake is one of the most pleasant horror games out there when it comes to playability. Easy-to-use controls eliminate the stilted stiffness typical of this genre. Developer Remedy is renowned for both action and storytelling. While the confrontations are well-crafted, the pistol-plus-flashlight fighting combo does not make you feel invincible, making it a rewarding challenge to take on a number of foes.

Xbox One and PC are supported (via backwards compatibility)

Carrion

Despite the fact that Carrion appears to be lighthearted fun, the game actually serves as a terrifying horror experience in which you take on the role of the monster. While devouring screaming scientists, the game’s pixel-perfect tentacles and teeth truly capture the spirit of a good creature movie, as you tear them apart, leaving nothing but bits and pieces in your wake. Some decent puzzles can be worked out between the gruesome carnage and the ever-expanding assortment of monster powers that are available.

For PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch

Until Dawn

As far as video games go, Friday the 13th on NES is the only one that has dared to take on the slasher genre for nearly four decades. Up to this point. Survival-horror video game Until Dawn (zing), about a group of raunchy teenagers on vacation in a remote mountain lodge, when they discover that a horrible creature is intent on killing them all. It’s not all fun and games, though: if you can’t follow Until Dawn’s horror movie logic, characters will die horribly, and the game will use every opportunity to terrify the bejaysus out of you.

Until Dawn merits a spot on this list for more than just its scare value; it’s well rooted in the horror genre and makes superb use of the cliches that go along with it. Even if you’ve seen it coming, you’ll still enjoy the absurd twists and nods to the classic slasher genre. You’ll chuckle as much as you scream, if not more, and few horror games capture that sense of gory joy as well as ‘The Scream’.
