Fallout 3 – An Open World Post-Apocalyptic RPG

Though it is the third installment in the Fallout series, Fallout 3 does not need players to have played any of the previous titles. It’s capable of standing on its own two feet. Despite the fact that the franchise was already well-known, Fallout 3 exposed the legendary series to a new audience of gamers when it was released.

Unlike any other game you’ve ever played, Fallout 3 has a lot of depth. At first sight, it may look like a Borderlands game, but after playing for a while, you’ll see that it’s lot more complex and nuanced.

This video game takes place in a world devastated by a nuclear war. The conflict has wiped out nearly all of humanity’s technological conveniences, leaving only a few lucky survivors. As soon as you step foot in this vast wasteland, you will be able to see the effects of the conflict. Looks like something out of a fairy tale!

I have said it so many times and I will say it once again; the Fallout series, especially Fallout 3 is your best bet as far as finding games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is concerned. Many more similarities exist between these two games, such as the use of a dark tone and a post-apocalyptic environment.

It’s up to you to decide how the story progresses, so pick your battles wisely. For example, siding with a group over another may lead to a situation where one faction is on the verge of extinction while the other is flourishing because of your support. You hold the power to change the course of the Fallout 3 universe. You can rest assured that its future will be exactly as you want it to be.

You could reach a different conclusion based on your allegiance to various groups and your choices throughout the game. For myself, I’ve experimented with every imaginable combination of factions in my multiple playthroughs of Fallout 3. It’s definitely a game you should play again and again!

Fallout: New Vegas – A Sequel to Fallout 3

A close second to Fallout 3 in terms of quality role-playing games is Fallout: New Vegas. For the most part, it’s so similar to Fallout 3 that I’d rather to refer to it as a “expansion.” Because the location and tale haven’t changed, they haven’t made any changes to the formula. However, I’m not going to complain about it. If something isn’t broken, why fix it?

After the nuclear war, the only remaining source of power and water for the state of California is the Hoover Dam, which is the focus of a conflict between the New California Republic and the Legion. Everything is in ruins, but life goes on in City Vegas as it has somehow escaped the nuclear attacks. Hotel chains, casinos, nightclubs, and other typical tourist attractions abound. New Vegas residents enjoy a high standard of living and good health.

People in other locations, on the other hand, are less fortunate. In order to survive, some have turned to robbery and looting of businesses and individuals, while others have organized themselves into gangs and factions.

However, things could change quickly depending on which party you join. In addition, there are a number of minor groups that will play a role in the tale. As a result, you have the option of either joining or fighting them. As an option, you can join a group and then turn against it later if you believe that your allegiance to that faction is under jeopardy.

If you protect the townspeople from hostile factions, they will either loathe or revere you. However, you will not be able to convert everyone. Residents of towns under the influence of the Powder Gang may look up to you and worship you, whereas residents of towns under Power Gang control may despise you. This game has a ton of fascinating potential, which results in some fantastic gameplay!

There are hundreds of side tasks to choose from scattered across the world, in addition to the main plot. At this point, Fallout: New Vegas really comes into its own. Hidden passageways lead to completely new and unknown areas when they appear at the most inconvenient times. As if there weren’t enough to explore, there are caves and cities as well as shacks and hidden areas that are waiting to be discovered. You can always bring your friends along for the ride. The humorous back and forth chat will keep things interesting as you walk through the wasteland.

You’ll never be bored around here since there’s always someone in need of your assistance. Despite the fact that there are a few “kill and gather” tasks, they aren’t just filler. Doing these quests is a blast because there’s never a dull moment in Fallout: New Vegas.

Honestly, New Vegas never fails to surprise me! Even after playing this game for about 100 hours, there are still regions and tasks that I have yet to explore.

BioShock Series – A Story-Driven Shooter

Open-world shooters like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series don’t count, which is why this game isn’t on the list to begin with, but It’s a collection of first-person shooters with a story focus. The BioShock series has set the standard for other first-person shooters with its great level design, stealth gameplay, and interesting hacking elements. If you enjoyed the shooting mechanics of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, you’ll appreciate what the BioShock series has to offer. As a general rule, you can’t expect to come out unhurt by going at it full force. As a reward for patience and strategy, the game’s shooting mechanics have been devised. It’s a candidate for one of the best games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. thanks to an interesting combat system and some outstanding storyline.

Borderlands 2 – A Shooter With Cell-Shaded Graphics

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is one of the most popular games in the Borderlands series, thus you may be wondering why I haven’t included other games in the franchise such as Borderlands 2. Other Borderlands games can’t be deemed similar because they don’t have a compelling narrative.

On the other side, the story in Borderlands 2 is solid! In every way, it’s a step up from the original. Almost every aspect of the game has been improved upon, making it a vast improvement over its predecessor. You’ve been granted access to Pandora’s mad universe!

The game’s main draw is the wide variety of weapons available, which will keep you hooked for hours on end. Despite your best efforts, you will always be one step away from a better weapon. Once you receive it, you’ll have to focus on getting a better weapon than the one you just got.

Weapons like Bazookas and Plasma Rifles are only some of the many options available to you, as well as Chemical weapons and Pistols. The majority of your time in Pandora would be spent firing at others if you lived in a world full of psychos, monsters, and mad people who are determined not to let you live. It doesn’t matter what kind of quest it is; sooner or later, you’re going to have to trade bullets, so be ready.

Side quests are available in addition to the game’s compelling main story. Borderlands 2’s side quests might overwhelm the main objective at times, a testament to the developers’ dedication to every facet of the game. If you combine the major tasks with side quests, the game will take you about 40 hours to complete. It’s a great value for the money!

Metro Redux – A Post-Apocalyptic Shooter Game

With improved graphics and greater polish, Metro Redux brings together two of the best first-person shooters ever made. At some point in time after the nuclear explosion that killed off most of humanity, this novel takes place. All of the people who were in the subway at the time of the explosion were either lucky or unlucky to be alive. Since staying on the surface is no longer an option, people are now forced to dwell in Metro underground tunnels instead. Only the bravest of souls dare to leave the safety of the metro stations in quest of vestiges of humanity and resources. The bottom of the ocean isn’t much better than the surface of the ocean.

This is one of the most engaging pieces of storytelling I’ve seen in a while. Stopping and listening to strangers talking can help you learn more about the Metro’s world. For example, in a Metro station, I overheard a mother telling her child that they used to live on the surface rather than in the utter darkness. Their struggle and inequity almost felt like it was happening.

During your quest to save the human race from extinction, you will come across robbers, explore several tunnels, and interact with a variety of fascinating characters from the other side.

On the surface, everything is covered in radiation, and you’ll need an air mask to walk outside and investigate. Metro Redux, like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., will put you in some of the most dangerous situations possible. There is a good chance that mutants will devour you alive if you don’t die from a lack of oxygen.

Even though weapons are plentiful, it’s important to keep an eye on your ammo supply because you’ll frequently find yourself in tight spots with little to no backup.

Due to its shared themes and setting, the post-apocalyptic setting reminds me quite a bit of the world of The Witcher 3. As a matter of fact, Metro Redux has a more somber tone than the other series. It can bring tears to your eyes at times!

Dead Space 2 – A Space Horror Shooter

First released in 2008, Dead Space was a smashing success. Dead Space 2 follows suit. After a three-year wait, Dead Space 2 was released. More like Resident Evil 5 with some spectacular space exploration and fascinating sci-fi themes thrown in for good measure. If you’ve ever played a survival horror game before, you’ll recognize the style right away. However, this isn’t your typical survival horror game.

Weapon upgrades, customization, and crafting will be available to you as you move through the game. Even though the enhancements make your job more enjoyable and rewarding, they don’t make the game any easier. Your foes will become increasingly difficult to defeat as time goes on, and you’ll never be more than an inch from being torn apart by mutants. Yes, as you go through the game, you’ll be able to manufacture and acquire more destructive weapons, but these terrible creatures will keep you on your toes at all times.

There is a terrific feeling of balance between the fun and seriousness in Dead Space 2. There is never a decisive advantage or disadvantage in this game.

Additionally, there’s a multiplayer feature that’s sure to keep you entertained for some time. There’s a lot of material to go through, but it’s manageable.

Dead Space 3 – One of the Best Sci-Fi Games

In the past, the Dead Space series has been more about terror than action, but Dead Space 3 has changed that. The fighting mechanics of the final Dead Space game are obviously improved. Instead of going down the typical horror route, the final product is a fantastic shooter that puts a greater emphasis on gunplay and crafting. Love action RPGs like STALOCKER? Then you’ll love the new path this game has gone. It’s a lot of fun!

Games Like Dead Space 3

In addition, the crafting mechanism has been upgraded. It’s a lot more enjoyable than Dead Space 2 was. It gives you the freedom to create wacky weaponry that keep things fresh. There is no doubt in my mind that you will come up with some incredible combos. For me, creating took precedence over everything else. That you may only carry two weapons at a time is depressing. Having the ability to transport more would have made it more enjoyable.

However, opinions differ on the game’s new co-op option. There are those who love it and those who don’t like it. Even if you don’t enjoy playing with pals, Dead Space 3 is a great game. The plot will take a different turn with some new cutscenes if you play with a friend in co-op mode.

There is another benefit to having a companion accompany you on your travels—they make it much easier for you. As long as you’ve got a friend keeping an eye on you, taking on waves upon waves of attackers is no longer an issue. When you have a second set of hands, devising a strategy to take down your enemies becomes much easier. When you’re playing alone, you can’t do it. The feeling of loneliness might creep in at any time in the vastness of space. You don’t have to play alone, thanks to the presence of other players.

Abandoned ships and fleets can be found around the galaxy. The game’s universe is now more expansive and interesting than ever before, thanks to the addition of new features and a wider opening for exploration. Did I mention you can float in Zero gravity? Despite the fact that there isn’t much to do when floating in Dead Space 3, this is one of the game’s most impressive improvements. Floating between spaceships, you’ll be able to take in the majesty of the cosmos.

Dead Space 3 wraps up the epic trilogy with a satisfactory conclusion to the plot. 20-25 hours, depending on how much time you spend on side quests and crafting. Dead Space 3 is a must-play if you’re a fan of games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with sci-fi themes and an engaging plot.

Survarium – A Multiplayer Game

So much of Survarium’s gameplay is like that of the S.T.A.L.K.E series that it’s hard to believe it’s a completely different title from it. Survarium is being created by Vostok Games, a studio that has worked on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games in the past, so if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll feel right at home. It’s still in its infancy, and many features, such as cooperative play, have yet to be added, but progress is being made.

There are only a few brief PVP missions in Survarium right now, but PVE missions will soon be added so that you and your pals can explore the wasteland together. Despite the fact that this game is still in its infancy, you should be enthused about their long-term ambition. Players will be able to explore the dangerous zones, oddities, and chance encounters with other players and NPCs in Survarium, an open-world game.

For want of a better word, they want Survarium to be the next Stasis! If only people will jump on board because of this alone. To play games similar to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but don’t mind playing online, Survarium is the place to go for those who don’t mind the multiplayer aspect.

The Metro Series

S.T.A.L.K.E.R fans flocked to the original Metro 2033 when it was released in 2010, but the game also has its fair share of differences.

Considering Metro 2033 takes place in a Russian wasteland in the aftermath of a nuclear war, the two films have a lot in common aesthetically. In contrast, Metro’s surroundings are mainly found in either underground tunnels or devastated Moscow neighborhoods, unlike S.T.A.L.K.E.R’s.

In addition, the layout of the stages is considerably more linear than in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, which favored wide open spaces.

Still, Metro 2033 has a terrific atmosphere and nails the survival-horror feeling, so S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans will feel right at home in the Metro. There are two more Metro games: Metro Last Light and Metro Exodus, which differ from the original in style.

Last Light is a good game in its own right, but it’s a lot faster and has a lot more action than its slower, moodier predecessor. Exodus, on the other hand, has levels that are larger, more open, and more varied, so it does feel more like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in that aspect, but it isn’t quite as similar to the original.

When discussing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-like games, Metro is guaranteed to be one of the first franchises to be mentioned. However, the first game, Metro 2033, is by far the best of the lot because of its outstanding atmosphere and slower paced gameplay.

Escape From Tarkov

Escape from Tarkov, like Survarium, is a new-ish online shooter that is still under development. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-style atmosphere and RPG gameplay aspects abound in this title. There are no supernatural components, and the game is currently solely playable online.

Despite the fact that Escape From Tarkov is not yet a finished product, there is still a lot of content to be added, including a story mode.

However, despite the lack of anomalies and mutants, the atmosphere is still present, and the game is currently shaping up to be a very enjoyable PvP experience.

Chernobylite

Chernobylite, yet another Early Access title, clearly draws inspiration from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. However, it reduces the amount of action and emphasizes the plot, atmosphere, exploration, and survival horror themes rather than focusing on the action as much.

In spite of this, the major difficulty with Chernobylite appears to be that it’s trying to do too much. The devs have yet to find a good balance between the game’s survival horror, crafting, narrative, and action aspects, thus the game now feels like a jumble of several genres.

So, if you’re considering purchasing Chernobylite, we advise caution, but bear in mind that it has the potential to be one of the greatest S.TaLkEye-like games ever developed.

Darkwood

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans may not recognize Darkwood as a survival horror game at first glance because it’s a top-down game instead of a side-scrolling one, but those who have played it can attest to the fact that it has many elements of the series.

Darkwood - Rừng sâu nước độc Hiệp Sĩ Bão Táp

It’s safe to say that everything about Darkwood is top-notch, from the plot to the visuals to the setting design. Although it’s ambiguous and evocative, its impact is lasting.

There is less gunplay in Darkwood than in STALES, but you can be confident that you’ll be kept on your toes, no matter if you’re exploring new locales or protecting your hideout from undesirable intruders at night.

DEUS EX

Platforms supported include: Mac, PC, and PS2.

GOOD

  • Many options for customizing your character’s appearance and tackling the quests
  • A believable environment full with non-player characters, dialogue, and explosions

BAD

  • Even after making the proper skill investments, many older gun mechanics are still difficult to use and appreciate.

9

Cyberpunk action, role-playing, stealth, and first-person shooting all come together in Deus Ex, an older game. After the initial game’s success, the story, world, and gameplay mechanics have been revived in several sequels set in the Deus Ex universe.

A dystopian future is shown in Deus Ex, which takes place in the year 2052 in a dystopian world where a number of government agencies are fighting for control of the world. Explore modern real-world sites such as Paris and Hong Kong and New York, which have undergone tremendous transformations since today’s present day and host a diverse cast of interesting personalities and technical features as the player delves into these conspiracy theories.

As a devastating virus sweeps the planet, a scarce vaccine only adds to an already overstretched social environment, the first Deus Ex excursion into this dystopian world centres around In particular, the game examines the divide between the world’s wealthy elite and the rest of the populace, who use their riches to ensure their own security. JC Denton, a United Nations Anti-Terrorism Coalition (UNATCO) agent who has been biotechnologically augmented, is your character in this scenario.

The story experience revolves around interacting with the many non-player characters (NPCs), listening to their dialogue, and making little decisions that have a small impact on the tale’s flow. The role-playing capabilities really shine when it comes to customizing JC Denton for a player’s desired playstyle, which can be broken down into two categories: stealth or combat.

As a result of these two choices, there is a great deal of flexibility to combine both standard RPG skills and augmentation options. For each of the five weapon classes (heavy, pistol, rifle, low-tech and demolition), you can expect a skill that increases from skill point spending for environmental (lockpicking), electronics (medical, computer), and swimming. After reaching level 100, players can only use about half of their available skills. This means that selecting which weapons to equip is a crucial decision.

With each cannister containing only one augmentation choice, players are forced to make difficult judgments, as these cannisters often have polar opposite advantages. To give you an example, leg automation can either increase your speed or reduce the sound of your footsteps greatly.

Deus Ex’s RPG and customisable components include weapon modifications that allow players to add sights or silencers while adjusting the weapons attributes (recoil, range, magazine size). Deus Ex is able to transcend its age because to its abundance of customization possibilities and beautifully created game world, particularly for those who have a fondness for the game.

Summary:

  • A well-known and beloved video game that takes place in a dystopian future plagued by sickness and greed.
  • Allows you to tackle quests in your own way by combining first-person action with stealth and role-play.
  • Explore modern cities that are in a state of disarray in various parts of the world.
  • To construct your own futuristic soldier you can customize your skills, weapons, and nano augmentations.
  • Enormous NPC interactions to uncover and explore in a lively, open-ended gaming universe

FALLEN EARTH

The following operating systems are supported: Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X.

GOOD

  • FPS and RPG gameplay are both excellent in this MMO’s unique atmosphere.
  • Customizable characters with a wide range of options for their appearance, characteristics, and abilities.

BAD

  • The overall clunky feel of the game is exacerbated by a few flaws in the gameplay.
  • Some gamers may be reluctant to invest their time in the game because of its troubled past.

7.5

MMO Fallen Earth uses FPS and RPG elements to create an experience similar to recent Fallout games, delivering an experience that is both immersive and engaging. Fallen Earth was initially released in 2009 as a paid-to-play MMO game before becoming a free-to-play game in 2011. The game was then temporarily shut down from October 2019 to October 2021 for a two-year period.

One of the few remaining areas of human civilization is the Grand Canyon area, which has been devastated by a series of natural disasters and is now a wasteland. The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, two of the most important game world sites, have been decimated by a worldwide nuclear conflict and a supposed man-made virus.

During the in-depth tutorial, players are given the opportunity to learn about the game’s main mechanics and begin to shape the environment around them. In the midst of six fighting factions, each with a different goal, the greater wasteland has a wide range of aspirations for the future of the globe.

As soon as they’ve stepped foot on this massive virtual playground, gamers are able to view for miles in every direction as they go about their quests and explorations. Three late-game zones and a PvP-specific sector round out the game’s four main sectors, which range in difficulty from 1 to 55.

MMO-style NPCs and quests can be found in all sectors, including a trading hub for several factions, as well as neutral and conflicted settlements. By repurposing an old vehicle from the past like an ATV, motorcycle, or dunes buggy, players can eventually bridge gaps in the 1,000 square kilometers of terrain.

The Fallen Earth MMO gaming environment isn’t completely new to players, since they can choose from a wide variety of character possibilities while creating their character (gender, size, skin tone, age, eye colour and hair style). Additionally, players have control over their primary stats, which allow them to play as characters who specialize in specific activities and weapon types. When playing Fall Earth, you have a number of different stats that directly affect how well you perform in various game mechanics as well as your overall vitality, such as health, gamma, or stamina.

Fallen Earth’s intricate web of ties allows it to capture the essence of a true role-playing game, but the obvious trade-off is the difficulty new players will have figuring out how everything fits together and where they should put their Advancement Points (AP). Skills, trades, and mutations allow players to fine-tune the uniqueness of their Fallen Earth avatar during gameplay.

There aren’t many other MMOs exploring a post-apocalyptic world like Fallen Earth, and the level of character nuance players can explore only adds to the game’s uniqueness. The Grand Canyon region offers many hours of fun no matter which group you support or where your trip takes you.

Summary:

  • One of the few free to play MMOs featuring both FPS and role playing features.
  • In Fallen Earth, players can design their own unique survivor from the ruins of the Earth’s surface.
  • In order to move through the six game factions and complete their many sectors and tasks, you’ll need to maintain a balance between your characters’ attributes, abilities, and mutations.
  • For the harsh game environment, make your own weaponry and even vehicles to aid in your survival.
  • Fight in both PvE and PvP settings to make a difference in the world, or sit back and watch it disintegrate even worse.

Escape From Tarkov, a game being developed by the Russian studio Battlestate Games, is based on a genuine military shooter and then ramps up the challenge. This game’s central idea is to collect materials from instanced areas while avoiding other players and artificial intelligence (AI). These resources can then be utilized to strengthen your own gear so that you can take on more difficult challenges.

Starting in 2012, Escape from Tarkov was released as an alpha and a beta in 2016 and 2017 respectively, which is still the current status of the game as of 2020. Aside from a few unfinished maps, certain stretch goals, and some general quality of life improvements, Escape From Tarkov has made significant progress and is currently a completely playable game experience. Along with the regular bug squashing that comes with a beta state, players may expect new features to be added, adjusted, or even eliminated as the game’s original vision is realized in full.

If you’re going to participate in an Escape from Tarkov raid, you’re going to have to get beyond the “beta” tag first. Currently available game maps are spawned in 4 to 14 player characters (known as PMCs) along with a host of AI-controlled scavengers and random treasure at specified map areas that serve as points of interest for players to fight over in these raids. It’s possible to take over an AI scavenger and their randomised gear to hunt down PMCs or to claim the scavenger gear for oneself by departing and then transferring it to their main character. This is unique to the game.

Unless you have a secure container with restricted capacity, all of the gear you bring into each raid is at danger due to the death mechanic in Escape From Tarkov. Insuring your gear is possible, but it comes at a cost and only works if it is not robbed by another player and there is a delay in getting the goods back. When the stakes are so high in this game, Escape From Tarkov does not make it easy to get out of the game either. You’ll have to trek across the map to one of your extraction points inside the raid time limit. A few of them have particular restrictions that limit players to a set of four or five extracts, depending on the terrain, so that combat encounters can be generated.

As a result of this set-up, you may wonder why anyone would willingly enter the dog-eat-dog world of Escape From Tarkov. However, aside from the pure adrenaline and satisfaction provided by an extraction, you will find a wealth of trader tasks to complete that require specific actions and in turn unlock more powerful equipment which you can purchase or barter directly from these traders. Scavenged resources are a great way for gamers to earn passive income while simultaneously acting as a long-term drain on the player’s bank account.

As time goes on, you’ll find your money (in rubles, dollars, and euros) disappearing faster than you can keep up with the costs of maintaining your equipment and purchasing ammo to fill your rifle. Escape From Tarkov has a wide variety of equipment slots, including headsets, helmets, body armor, face, eyewear, armband, rig, scabbard, and up to three weapons. Players that go all in on the extensive weapon customization system to craft a lethal weapon from carefully picked compatible parts may be hit even harder by this death penalty. The flea market, which is unlocked after your character reaches level 5, allows users to trade directly with each other for a modest price.

Some players have taken the flea market as a game in and of itself, spending hours scouring the goods for the best deals in order to make money in the harsh world of Tarkov. Escape From Tarkov gamers, like those that choose to fully equip themselves for raids in order to maximize their combat capability or the rat players, who lurk in the shadows plundering anything left behind, have all embraced this as one of their unique playstyles.

Currently, Escape from Tarkov is an addictive survival shooter with mechanisms that make every high-value loot find, kill or extract incredibly satisfying and in stark contrast to the catastrophic lows of many deaths you will undoubtedly face.

Summary:

  • Warzone Survival Evolved is an action-packed and brutally realistic military shooter set in the Tarkov battle zone.
  • A wide range of weapon customization options allow you to create a combat-ready firearm tailored to your needs.
  • You can either play as a scavenger and receive a random set of equipment, or you can create your own character from scratch.
  • Increase your purchasing power and other passive rewards by completing difficult trader jobs and upgrading your hideout.
  • With a broad streaming community, you can go your own way as a market trader, juggernaut, or sneaky loot rat.

FAQS:

Is escape from tarkov based on Stalker?

Despite the fact that both Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown have features that are clearly influenced by Tarkovsky’s visual and conceptual aesthetic, they are also constructed on the same premise as Stalker, which emphasizes not so much the zone as the voyage through it.

Is Stalker the video game based on the movie?

So many release dates were missed that it was dubbed “vaporware” by a slew of gaming media sources, implying that it never existed. The developers’ description of “a Soviet horror picture named Stalker, by A. Tarkovsky” is innovative, but the game itself is the most faithful reproduction of any film to date.

Is Shadow of Chernobyl free?

GSC is the developer of this app. Playing Shadow of Chernobyl on Gametap.com is absolutely free (the emphasis on the word “free” is intentional). Just go to the game’s page, register, and then download the game (yes it is that simple).

Conclusion:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R., as you can see, is one of the best video games ever made.

In the meantime, you’ll have to make do with the three existing STALES games and their various mods, at least until STALES 2 comes out in the spring of 2014. (hopefully).

This list is constantly being updated, so be sure to check back from time to time to see what’s new.
