There is no denying that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a fantastic title. Here are the top Red Dead Redemption 2-like games currently available.

Taking place in late 1800s America, Red Dead Redemption 2 puts players in the shoes of Arthur Morgan, an old criminal who is forced to fight for his life as the Old West crumbles.

Red Dead 2’s massive open-world is crammed with places to explore, side objectives to do, and Easter eggs to find by going off the beaten road.

Our selection of the greatest PC games in 2022 includes both the sequel to Rockstar’s critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption and the first Red Dead Redemption.

Keep an eye out for updates to this list, and let us know if we’ve overlooked any of your favorite RDR2-like games!

Red Dead Redemption

If you’re looking for a game that’s comparable to Red Dead Redemption 2, look no farther than Red Dead Redemption 2. Only Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 can play this game. As of this writing, there have been no plans to bring a Western-themed shooter to PC. Even if it made the greatest financial sense to do so (like in the case of GTA 5 on PC), it will not be done. In addition to GTA 5, they’ve just released Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - PS4 Games | PlayStation (Slovakia)

Xbox One owners are in for a treat. It improves the visuals and gameplay of the game.

Even if the graphics are out of date, the world is still a wonderful place to gaze at even in this day and age.

Everything on this map is enormous! The Western-style game you’ve been yearning can be yours if you’re willing to ride for miles on our horse. Despite this, there is a disadvantage to the idea. It’s not uncommon to ride for extended periods of time without encountering anything noteworthy. Red Dead Redemption doesn’t believe in overcrowding the map with activities, but rather focusing on quality over quantity. Regardless of what you encounter in this game, it will be worthwhile.

This game is well worth purchasing even if you don’t care about the jaw-dropping gunplay or the vast area it takes place in. Rockstar has mastered the art of telling a compelling story from the ground up.

Gun

A man is on a mission to avenge the people who stole him of everything in Gun, developed by Neversoft and distributed by Activision. You can play this third-person shooter in whatever way you like. You have the option of doing the main quest or a slew of side missions. Those aren’t your cup of tea. Kill everyone in your path. Except for the primary protagonists, you can kill anything that moves.

Sneak up on your foes or go all guns blazing. There is no right or wrong answer. To deal with the situation, you’ll have a couple of options. Try out different combinations to see which one works best for you.

The shape of the gun changes depending on how you use it. Make sure you can handle the repercussions. It only ensures your right to make your own decisions, not your safety in the long run. As well as fighting enemies and wild creatures, you’ll have to contend with bandit attacks. Is it better for you to escape or to fight? It’s up to you, as always.

One of the PS2’s most underappreciated titles, Gun, may seem antiquated by today’s standards. God of War and Shadow of the Colossus have been spoken about for years, but no one knows about this game.

The visuals are a little old. That’s not all there is to it.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is the fourth game in the Call of Juarez series developed and released by Techland. This arcade-style shooter is available for a low price on Steam. Don’t be fooled by its low price into thinking it’s a bad game. It’s one of the best shooters out there, but it’s not getting the attention it deserves.

While it draws inspiration from other games, such as Red Dead Redemption, it also comes up with a slew of fresh ideas.

Despite its brief length, Gunslinger is a delight to play from beginning to end. It moves at an incredible pace and is really accurate. Arcade-style gunplay, which is the game’s best feature, is immediately introduced to you.

In contrast to the Red Dead series, there is a well defined path to pursue. There isn’t much to discover. A Red Dead Redemption fan might not appreciate this Western shooter because of this.

Open-world games aren’t for everyone. Let it serve as a refreshing change of pace. The embedded trailer below should give you a basic idea of what to expect since this is what you’ll be doing over 90% of the time.

Mafia 2

Mafia 2 is a game developed by 2K Czech and released by 2K games that chronicles the harrowing life of a mobster from his inception to the end.

There’s a good reason why I left off Mafia 3 from this list. Although it’s a decent game, it lacks polish. Unfortunately, it was thrown together in a hurry in order to make the cutoff date. For the time being, I’ll put off the critique. For the time being, let’s focus on Mafia 2.

Despite the story’s intrigue, it may leave you disappointed. I’ll do my best not to give away any of the plot points ahead of time. This game was a joy to play in the end.

Although Mafia 2 was developed for the Xbox 360’s last generation, its visuals are stunning. It’s been around for a long time. The graphics aren’t mind-blowing by any means, especially when we’re viewing several years later. It’s amazing how nicely this game has held up.

If you’re searching for a story-driven open world game in the vein of Red Dead Redemption 2, consider giving Mafia 2.

Fallout: New Vegas

In many ways, this Fallout prequel receives more adoration than the other games in the series. For a good cause, that’s what happened. Even though it’s a long time ago, this RPG can still hold its own against today’s best offerings.

In Fallout: New Vegas, even the tiniest of decisions can have a big impact. Even anything as simple as whether you play as a man or a woman will have an effect on how the game plays out and how it ends. As a female player on my second game, I noticed that certain NPCs had distinct reactions to me. On my second playthrough, I discovered new dialogue options that weren’t available on my first.

I vividly recall my first encounter with the game’s primary antagonist. The first time, I shot him in the face. As a female character, I had a slew of options on how to deal with him. The second time around, I was more cunning and diplomatic.

Even while you might be worried that reading this story might ruin your gameplay, you might not even come across the identical circumstance in the game at all. It’s hard to see all the different narratives in one sitting because there are so many. To get the most out of this game, you’ll need to play through it multiple times.

It’s a lot of fun to switch allies between playthroughs. The Powder Gang, for example, can be aided in their efforts to gain more control of the land, or they can be completely eliminated.

Working for more than one group can help you keep the peace. There’s a limit to how far you can go this strategy. You’ll have to choose your favorites at some point. Decide if you want to be a hero or a villain. Your choices are final.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Red Dead Redemption 2 overtook The Witcher 3 as the monarch of the action-RPG genre.

We’ve grown to expect nothing less from CD Project Red when it comes to the game’s main objectives. There haven’t been many games in recent memory that have been as polished and tightly integrated as this one. With open-world games, it’s difficult to strike a balance between empowering players and telling a story. You can’t argue with the results.

This is a game about making decisions. In most cases, there will be multiple ways to do a task. If you want to be a decent person, don’t waste your time on it. Regardless of the road you choose, you will infuriate someone. In the future, you may regret your good intentions. Witcher 3 has an uncanny knack for making you feel like a dummy at every turn. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The main quests should take between 50 and 80 hours to complete if you rush through them. A game wouldn’t be complete without side quests that tie into the main plot. In order to get the most out of the game, you must engage in these activities.

With so many options available, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. Take no more than a couple quests at a time, in my opinion. If you accept every bounty, treasure hunt, and quest, you may lose track of what you were doing. Relax and take your time!

The Witcher 3 does not require you to have played the prior games in order to enjoy it. Everything is explained in the Prologue, and it does a fantastic job at it. Let’s get started right away!

Red Dead Revolver

Rockstar Games created and released the first game in the Red Dead series, a western shooter. This game’s development was a complete catastrophe. The bulk of the work was done by Capcom. Rockstar San Diego was only brought in to finish the job much later. In addition to Xbox and PlayStation 2, this game was also available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. As a result, PC users are unable to play this game.

From the beginning, I was smitten by the music. Actually, I didn’t expect it at all. There’s a palpable sense of dread when things are about to fall apart.

At times, shooting feels like an arcade game. If you’ve just finished Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll have to adapt to a new gunplay system. If you have a PlayStation 4, you can also get it.

GTA V

How much fun did you have in Red Dead Redemption 2 shooting stuff? Did you enjoy the distinct feel of each weapon? Is the response “yes”? If so, GTA V is for you. GTA V’s gunplay techniques have been adapted for Red Dead Redemption 2’s open-world setting.

It’s a lengthy read, taking anything from 30 to 50 hours. GTA Online is where the action is. You have the option to take part in a variety of events, such as bank robberies, dogfights, racing, tank battles, and more. It’ll keep you busy till Red Dead Online is out.

Let loose and have some fun out there gangster!

TheHunter: Call of the Wild

Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Hunting and skinning animals in Red Dead Redemption 2 is an incredibly intricate system that requires you to meticulously locate, hunt, and skin creatures.

As a result of this, we’d like to offer a completely devoted hunting simulator that includes even more simulated systems.

Call of the Wild introduces you to an open-world environment full with untamed life, including accurately rendered animals with full animations and AI behaviors that respond to your actions.

It’s a lot slower than RDR2’s hunting, but it’s just as rewarding.

The Last of Us Part II

PS4 and PS5 are the only two supported platforms.

Everything from overgrown woodlands to once-bustling city streets in The Last of Us Part II feels like it could have sprung straight out of our own planet.

Amazon.com: The Last of Us Part II - PlayStation 4 Special Edition : Sony: Everything Else

Characters in this game have a lot of depth, and they frequently engage in raw and passionate discourse that benefits significantly from the highly accurate motion-capture performances found in Red Dead Redemption 2.

A bitter band of survivors loyal to the Washington Liberation Front discovers Joel and Ellie in Jackson, Wyoming, where they settle down.

At the behest of their leader, Ellie sets out to seek vengeance on her adoptive father Joel in this startlingly accurate recreation of Seattle, Washington.

Ghost of Tsushima

PS4 and PS5 are the only two supported platforms.

A samurai who must choose between tradition and innovation is the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, a new open-world action-adventure video game.

Tsushima Island’s undulating plains, bamboo forests, snow-covered mountains, and waterfalls are all featured in the game, which is set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan.

Samurai methods and traditions have been included into the game’s combat system, which stresses parrying and timing strikes in conjunction with various weapons.

In spite of their vastly different backgrounds, Arthur Morgan and Jin both suffer from the same kind of long-term effects of exposure to constant violence.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are supported.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance depicts medieval life with stunning realism, from samurai to knights in shining armor.

A blacksmith’s kid who witnesses the massacre of his parents and their hamlet by invaders chooses to join a group of rebels in order to defend other people.

There is no all-powerful warrior like Arthur Morgan in Henry, and he has to face the same daily challenges that everyone else does, just like everyone else.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll have to do things like hunt for food and water, locate a spot to sleep at night, and even take showers to wash off the day’s muck.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

PS4 and PS5 are the only two supported platforms.

As long as the hero’s story is well-told, there’s nothing wrong with the player taking on the role of a superhero.

Playing as Peter Parker, a.k.a. your local Spider-Man, in Marvel’s Spider-Man, a PlayStation 4 exclusive developed by Insomniac Games, is like that.

It’s hard to compare Red Dead Redemption 2 to Red Dead Redemption because of how different the two games are in terms of gameplay and general tone.

Web-swinging around New York City is littered with treasures and side objectives, as well as secrets to uncover.

God of War

Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One are supported.

A soft remake of God of War, starring Kratos, a soldier turned deity with a bloody past, is our next Sony-exclusive suggestion.

After the death of his wife, Kratos is tasked with rearing his son and embarks on an epic journey through a Norse mythology-inspired world with his son.

To a similar degree as Red Dead 2, the plot of God of War delves deeply into themes such as how life moves forward with or without violence, and the fragility of human relationships.

In spite of the game’s fantasy premise, Arthur and Kratos are both forced to confront the morality of their previous deeds as they journey through the game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

platforms: Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.

At first glance, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Red Dead Redemption 2 don’t appear like they have anything in common.

Second, the open areas are ambitiously big and unveil themselves through a sprawling storyline that spans several acts.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Official Gameplay (35 min) - YouTube

Arthur Morgan and Geralt of Rivia are both professional killers, and both deal with the moral uncertainty that comes with that.

It’s important to remember that The Witcher 3 isn’t all doom and gloom. There are plenty of humorous moments, like when Geralt gets really intoxicated or plays with dynamite in RDR2.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nintendo Switch is the only supported platform.

This game is worth picking up after Red Dead 2 if you’re an avid fan of Nintendo or simply appreciate exploring large, dynamic open environments.

As in RDR2, the basic goal is to vanquish Ganon and restore Hyrule to its former splendor. However, the real fun is in riding your horse across this large open world.

Because the story can be finished in a non-linear manner, you can explore Link’s abilities at your own leisure and at your own pace.

It’s a new take on the Zelda formula that encourages you to explore at every opportunity using a fluid mobility system that allows you to scale almost any item.

Far Cry 5

Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Far Cry 5’s fictional county of Hope, Montana, while not as large as Red Dead, Skyrim, or Assassin’s Creed, is nonetheless one of the most immersive open environments.

Eden’s Gate is a militaristic doomsday cult lead by a wicked preacher named Joseph Seed, and you play as a rookie deputy entrusted with finding and defeating three cult generals.

There’s a lot of emphasis on storytelling in Far Cry 5, like in Red Dead 2 and its predecessors.

Additional features include a new weaponry ballistics system, character customisation, and more close-quarter combat options than in previous Far Cry titles.

L.A. Noire

Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are supported.

This detective game is inspired by the 1940s film noir era by casting you as an LAPD officer who investigates criminal cases.

To find out what really happened, players in L.A. Noire accompany Detective Cole Phelps as he examines crime sites and speaks with witnesses and suspects alike.

These interrogations will test your skills as a detective since the suspects may respond to your inquiries in different ways depending on whether they are being honest or trying to hide something.

As with Red Dead Redemption 2’s grim depiction of life in the Wild West, this gives the gameplay a more realistic feel.

Grand Theft Auto V

XBox One, XBox X/S, Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One

With the exception of Rockstar’s original Red Dead Redemption, the GTA series has been a satirical look at several eras of American pop culture.

Featuring three new playable characters in its single-player tale and the chance to create your own in GTA Online, Grand Theft Auto V is both the latest and, perhaps, the best take on the formula.

As you control a variety of hired guns, you’ll be tasked with getting your hands filthy for a variety of mob lords, street gangs, or for no specific reason at all.

Similar to RDR2, players are free to roam the globe and encounter random, unscripted occurrences that can lead to exciting discoveries and rewards.

Mad Max

Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Not only are movies in the Mad Max series popular, but so are video games, such as the surprisingly underappreciated 2015 release of the same name as the franchise’s first game.

You play as Max, the protagonist of the game, as he creates the ultimate car from scraps of metal and other resources scattered over the wasteland of the post-apocalyptic world.

The Magnum Opus’s new upgrades can only be unlocked by battling crazy bandits and dangerous machines in enemy camps.

Even though the wasteland setting differs from Red Dead’s old west, both are depicted as lawless places with warring factions asserting their claim to certain territories.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Available on Windows and the Nintendo Switch.

As far as action-packed spaghetti westerns like Red Dead 2 are concerned, the Call of Juarez games are a cowboy fan’s bread and butter, though certain entries have undoubtedly aged better than others.

Because the cel-shaded graphics in RDR2 still look good, we recommend Gunslinger to fans of the game’s previous installments.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger - Câu chuyện cao bồi bị quên lãng Hiệp Sĩ Bão Táp

With flashback sequences that focus on shootouts and “Showdown” duels, you can play as a cowboy who is reliving their past adventures.

A cinematic ‘cheat death’ function allows you to slow down time and zoom in on the bullet that’s about to kill you, allowing you a chance to evade it and regaining life.

Fallout: New Vegas

Windows is the operating system of choice.

Our next game is Fallout: New Vegas, a follow-up to Fallout 3 that places the player as a mystery stranger searching for clues to solve their own attempted while exploring the vast Mojave wasteland of Fallout 3.

New Vegas’ expansive open environment is filled with peril, including warring factions, robbers on the highways, mutant beasts, and a bewildering array of other sci-fi curiosities à la Red Dead 2.

It’s possible to backstab or betray characters in almost every task, but you’re just as likely to have this done to you in return.

Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 will love the combination of this with a beautifully crafted Western theme.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

The Assassin’s Creed series’ Bayek is often regarded as one of its most memorable heroes. Many people enjoyed RDR2’s characters, therefore we recommend playing Origins so you may meet and take on the role of yet another fascinating and fully-realized personality.

Because Origins is so different from the previous games in the series, it’s worth giving it a shot if you haven’t already done so. For the first time in the series’ history, an RPG takes place in an entirely open universe. Unlike previous games, this one takes place in Ancient Egypt, a land rich with mythology and tale.

God Of War

Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War garnered a lot of similarities in 2018, even though their stories are very different. It’s important to play the game in order to get a fair assessment of the competition for the coveted Game of the Year award.

One major distinction between the two games is the degree to which the plot of God of War follows a straight path. There are still plenty of activities and side quests, but they’re nowhere near as extensive as those in Red Dead. It tells the story of Kratos and his son Atreus as they travel to the highest mountain of the nine worlds to scatter the ashes of Atreus’ mother.

Mafia 2

In this game, you take on the role of a gangster attempting to rise through the ranks of the most powerful criminal organizations. The desired system has several features with Red Dead Redemption. You can tip off law enforcement and have a target put on your head as individuals come after you for your crimes in the same way as in Red Dead Redemption.

In addition, if you prefer a third-person perspective, this is a great choice for you. Mafia II’s setting and settings are vastly different from Red Dead’s, but the game is still a blast to play.

Lead And Gold

The PS3 version of Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is an older game. Because of its team-based gameplay, it is largely a third-person shooting game.

Unlike Red Dead 2, Lead and Gold will not satisfy your desire for expansive exploration and storytelling, but if you still want to play as an outlaw and experience what it was like to be a cowboy in the American Old West, then Lead and Gold will suffice.

Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar North, the studio behind Red Dead and Grand Theft Auto V, has released yet another large open world RPG, Grand Theft Auto V. For lovers of Red Dead and RPGs in general, this game is a must-have. You’ll take on the role of one of three criminals attempting to pull off a variety of heists while being watched by the authorities.

Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Edition | Download and Buy Today - Epic Games Store

There is a wanted system in place, just like in Red Dead, which can put the heat on you if law enforcement in the region starts to notice you. This is a fantastic follow-up to Red Dead 2, with a lot to see and do.
