You’ve probably heard of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite Battle Royale, but there’s a new Battle Royale game in town, and it’s called Realm Royale.

This game is identical to Fortnite and PUBG in every way except that it uses the Unreal 4 Engine. If you want to play a Battle Royale game, which one should you pick?

In order to better comprehend both games, we will now discuss their respective benefits and drawbacks.

Fortnite

Realm Royale

The Pros:

  • RPG-inspired battle royale
  • Several Distinct Groups
  • Develop your own tools
  • Chickens
  • Super-low-key gameplay
  • Mounts

The Cons:

  • Badly Optimized
  • There Isn’t Even A Working Website For The Game.
  • There Will Be No Standings
  • No Skins
  • Not Even a Single-Player Option

The number of players playing Fortnite is significantly higher than any other game. It’s important to note that Realm Royale is still in its early access Alpha phase. And there is currently no Realm Royale PlayStation 4 or Xbox One release.

Here, we’ll compare and contrast the games, talking about the things they have in common. First, the most obvious: visuals!

Gameplay: The Basics

The foundations of both Realm Royale and Fortnite are, unsurprisingly, textbook. In a “Battle Royale,” One hundred competitors from all over the world leap from a moving vehicle into a steadily decreasing playing field. The player can select their desired landing spot before making a jump.

Whether they crash in a sandy desert or a concrete jungle, the players will need to quickly locate weapons, health packs, and other supplies before the opposing team does. Once the player has gathered their necessary supplies, they can begin taking out their enemies with guns blazing and claim victory.

Player Elimination and Respawning

If you’re in a team-based game mode of Fortnite and you get gunned down by an enemy, your teammates can respawn you. You will leave a Reboot Card on the ground for 90 seconds if they are unable to respawn you before you are eliminated.

A teammate can then take it to a Reboot van and use it to respawn you at that point. These vans are spread out across the map to give you a chance to respawn before the game is over.

However, in Realm Royale, when you are knocked out, you transform into a chicken that has 700 health and can deal 75 damage with its melee peck attack. A chicken, you read correctly.

If you stay a chicken for 20 seconds, you’ll be resurrected. Thanks to this addition, playing Realm Royale is a hilarious adventure that makes the occasional loss of health less of a setback.

The Ever-Shrinking Play Area: Storm Eye and Fog

A powerful barrier (Fog in Realm Royale, Storm eye in Fortnite) gradually reduces the play area over time, making it harder to hide from enemies. Any damage taken from being caught in the Fog or Storm will be dealt gradually over time.

The amount of damage you take as the barrier decreases increases dramatically as the game progresses. You’ll need to think quickly on your feet as the amount of damage you take causes the shrinking time to decrease.

It’s going to end in an L and your death if you don’t get out of here. However, if you happen to die in a relatively safe area, your teammates will have time to bring you back from the dead before the round is over. This adds to the growing excitement of playing either Realm Royale or Fortnite.

Realm Royale’s Fog deals 18 damage per tick, and this number rises as you level up, making it significantly more damaging than the dust in Fortnite. By comparison, even at its peak, the Storm in Fortnite only deals out 10 damage per second (DPS).

Graphics

The visual similarities between Fortnite and Realm Royale are striking. Both have a laid-back, cartoony aesthetic that appeals to a younger demographic.

It’s not different between Fortnite and Realm Royale in terms of how easy it is to spot enemies, unlike in PUBG.

The bullet’s path is visible for a brief time in Realm Royale, but not in other games. Since this is more obvious in Realm Royale, you can more easily pinpoint your attacker’s position.

Shooting

There are noticeable distinctions between the shooting mechanisms. In Realm Royale, bullet drop is minimal, and the vast majority of weapons are seemingly hitscan.

Armor that increases your chance of survival can be obtained in both Realm Royale and Fortnite, with the blue armor in Fortnite increasing your chance of survival by a factor of two. When compared to Realm Royale, Fortnite has a much larger arsenal. Realm Royale also features melee weapons like swords and daggers.

Gameplay

There are major distinctions in terms of gameplay.

Let’s begin in the lobby, where everyone gathers before the game. Unlike Realm Royale, where players can choose their class, Fortnite players are limited to waiting and wandering the map in an attempt to test out various weapons.

There are five different classes in Realm Royale right now, and each one has its own set of weapons and set of abilities. Additionally, the only modes available for play in Realm Royale at the moment are Duo and Squad.

In Fortnite, when you jump from the battle bus or the airship, your umbrella will automatically open a certain distance above the ground. Instead, you’ll perform a real “superhero move” upon landing on the ground in Realm Royale. So, keep this in mind if you’re used to playing Fortnite and have just started playing Realm Royale.

Let’s have a construction chat. Construction is central to Fortnite. Instead, Realm Royale has no architectural details.

Moving on, Realm Royale also features mounts, while Fortnite gives players the option to use a shopping cart, jetpack, or jump pads to get around the map quickly.

If you’re not playing Fortnite Solo, when your health reaches 0, you’ll be knocked down and need to be revived by a teammate. The time it takes to revive a player in Fortnite is 10 seconds, and during that time, both players must remain stationary. If you get killed in Realm Royale, you’ll transform into a chicken and screech like one as you flee. After 30 seconds, if you haven’t been killed yet, you will be revived automatically.

Chests and Loot

When you first enter the arena, you must search the many chests strewn about for weapons and other supplies. There are three distinct kinds of chests to be found in Realm Royale, each containing a unique set of items: regular chests, which contain the likes of weapons and runes, potion chests, which contain consumables like health and defense, and gold chests, which contain epic and legendary gear. The gold chests are distinguished by an orange beam that aims upwards.

You’ll be able to locate certain legendary weapons with the click of an icon on your minimap. Loot Goblins are random mobs that spawn all over the map and occasionally drop epic or legendary items. Also, after a player has looted a chest and dropped their loot, it will be lying on the ground for you to pick up.

Contrast this with Realm Royale, where floor loot is relatively rare, and you’ll see how common it is in Fortnite. The variety of Fortnite’s loot is insane, especially considering that new items are constantly being added to the game. On the ground and in chests all over the battlefield are weapons, ammunition, explosives, healing items, utility items, and traps. Ammunition, not surprisingly, can be discovered in ammo boxes all over the world.

Fortnite has both chests and Supply Drops, which fall from the sky at random intervals. It’s possible to find anything from a few potions to extremely rare weapons in here, all for the purpose of killing off your enemies. Additionally, three Supply Llamas containing materials, consumables, and ammo will spawn per match in addition to these drops.

Weapons

Realm Royale and Fortnite, like any good Battle Royale, offer a wide variety of weapons from various classes (pistols, shotguns, rifles, and so on). You can choose from General Weapons ranging from the Common (white), Rare (green), Epic (purple), and Legendary (orange) tiers in Realm Royale.

Rare, Epic, and Legendary weapons, as opposed to Common weapons, are exclusive to Gold Chests and Loot Goblins. In contrast, Epic and Legendary Class Weapons are plentiful throughout the battlefield. Players in Realm Royale also have the option to create legendary weapons with unique stat boosts for their respective classes.

The rarity of items in Fortnite is indicated by one of five colors: gray for “common,” green for “uncommon,” blue for “rare,” purple for “epic,” and gold for “legendary.” Each weapon in this game, like those in others of the Battle Royale genre, has its own unique set of statistics, including fire rate, magazine size, reload speed, DPS, headshot damage, and normal damage.

You can no longer level them up, and each weapon’s effectiveness now depends on its rarity (class), so pick your weapons carefully.

The Arena

The above map comparison reveals that Realm Royale’s map is divided into distinct regions. The landscape features a desert, an icy region, rocky terrain, and a more typical grassland.

Both maps feature dozens of hidden chests hidden at various locations. Sounds will play when you get close to them in Fortnite, but in Realm Royale, you won’t hear a thing.

As an added bonus, Realm Royale features locations called “Forges” where players can create powerful new items and upgrades for their existing arsenals. As long as smoke is rising from the top of a Forge, it is being used. Be on the lookout for smoke and ready to fight if necessary.

Forging requires shards, which can be obtained by disenchanting armor, skills, and weapons that have been discovered on the ground.

Crafting and Building System

Fortnite has a novel construction system, as you may know, and it can take some practice to master. Despite this, it’s an essential skill if you want to stay alive. After stocking up on weapons and supplies, it’s time to start breaking stuff for materials. Each of these materials—wood, stone, and metal—begins in a different state of health, with metal being the strongest.

Structures like walls, floors, stairs, and roofs can be built with these supplies. At first, you won’t be able to construct a safe haven in a flash. Thus, it is recommended that you practice rapidly erecting walls as a means of dodging enemy fire.

If the thought of this fills you with dread, you might do better in Realm Royale. In place of a traditional construction system, Realm Royale offers a novel crafting mechanism for creating your own customized weapons and armor. Legendary weapons, armor, and even healing potions can be forged in forges and used in the fight for survival. You’ll need to collect the right supplies to fire up a Forge, though.

This reminds me a lot of making potions in Minecraft. Shards, orange crystals (found on objects and dead enemies), and chicken trophies (awarded for killing foes) are all examples of such materials. In a Forge, you can create a wide variety of items, each of which has its own unique shard requirement and processing time range (between 30 and 60 seconds).

Vehicles

For both Realm Royale and Fortnite, the arena is so vast that you’ll likely need a vehicle of some sort. A horse is your primary mode of transportation in Realm Royale, second only to a motorcycle. The best part is that whenever you’re in an open area on PC, you can call your horse by holding down the Z key. This makes getting around the world a lot quicker, which comes in handy when the available space starts to get smaller.

In contrast, Fortnite’s map is littered with a wide variety of vehicles from which players can choose. Stormwing planes, Motorboats, and Quadcrashers are just some of the vehicles that have been added to the game since its initial release. This makes traversing the various locations a breeze.

Battle Passes and Cosmetic Items

Both Realm Royale and Fortnite are free-to-play, but they offer in-app purchases for things like a “Battle Pass” and in-game cosmetics. True, in-game purchases account for a lion’s share of revenue for free-to-play games. In Fortnite, the in-game currency is called V-Bucks, and it can be used to purchase things like Emotes, Banners, Skins, Gliders, Weapons, and Bundles.

As a way to keep things fresh, the Fortnite store regularly changes up the products it sells, giving players a chance to discover and acquire unique cosmetics that they might not have access to in the future.

Skins, Avatars, Emotes, and Skydive Effects are just some of the cosmetic options available in the Realm Royale in-game store. Though they have no practical effect on the game, sometimes you just need to spruce up your virtual wardrobe with some new threads. Regarding Battle Passes, Realm Royale’s offering is very similar to Fortnite’s.

In order to advance in levels, members can use these passes to play matches and gain experience. As you gain experience, you’ll be able to purchase new cosmetics to show off to your fellow players. The expected method of payment is game money. Right now, you can get Fortnite for 950 V-Bucks and Realm Royale for 900 crowns.

Features

Comparing Fortnite to Realm Royale, it’s clear that Fortnite has far more polished features. With Fortnite, you can play across multiple platforms, complete quests, and customize your character with a wide variety of skins. Instead, none of these features have been ironed out in Realm Royale. However, the Battle Pass button is sometimes inaccessible in Realm Royale.
