Genshin Impact, the latest and most popular open-world RPG from Mihoyo, has a lot going for it: a free-to-play model, excellent combat, and an engaging narrative.

When it comes to RPGs, whether you’re a big fan of Genshin’s cast of distinctive characters, bright art style or just well-designed RPGs, you’ll eventually want to try something new.

The greatest games like Genshin Impact to play in 2022, including the best open-world games like Genshin Impact, will be featured in this list.

As new games are released, we’ll be adding them to this list, so be sure to come back often and let us know if we’ve missed any of your favorites.

Honkai Impact 3rd

Windows, iOS, and Android are the supported platforms.

Genshin enthusiasts should start with Mihoyo’s prior free-to-play action RPG Honkai Impact 3rd, which served as a model for Genshin Impact.

This is a fast-paced action-combat game where you guide a squad of Valkyrie with different abilities and playstyles.

Each Valkyrie’s stats and damage-dealing capacity can be enhanced through in-game purchases and regular RPG leveling.

Thế giới của Genshin Impact đang vượt qua Honkai Impact 3 - VI Atsit

Honkai Impact 3rd has hosted special events for Genshin Impact fans, including Fischl and Keqing, who are two of the show’s most popular characters.

Scarlet Nexus

XBox One, XBox X/S, Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One

Scarlet Nexus is another great choice for anyone who loves anime-inspired action RPGs with unique cel-shaded graphics similar to Genshin Impact.

One of the best anime-inspired action RPGs on the market is Scarlet Nexus, a game that features unique cel-shaded graphics comparable to Genshin Impact.

With its sci-fi-inspired universe and evocative environments, the game does a good job of building up its story, although the story itself is a bit disjointed.

Genshin Impact’s over-the-top combos look and feel just as rewarding in this game, thanks to a skill tree that allows characters to master new powers.

Breath of the Wild

Wii U and Nintendo Switch

Gamers have been comparing Breath of the Wild to Genshin Impact since it was first revealed.

There are some apparent similarities between BOTW and Genshin’s battle system, with Mihoyo going so far as to model it after BOTW.

Although it’s a minor nitpick, the two games feature eerily identical cel-shaded aesthetics, which is more of a point of contention than anything else.

It’s worth noting, though, that BOTW is a great game if you prefer exploring expansive open areas and engaging in fast-paced battle.

Immortals Fenyx Rising

platforms: Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, and the Nintendo Switch

Another free-roaming open-world game that’s drawn similarities to BOTW is Immortals Fenyx Rising.

A hero called upon by the Greek gods is tasked with defeating an army of mythological creatures released by Typhon, a mighty Titan.

Free-roaming adventure via horseback and a pair of magical wings allow you to easily traverse the terrain.

When it comes to drawing inspiration from Nintendo games, Immortals does it in a way that doesn’t overstay its welcome, just like Genshin Impact.

Persona 5 Royal

PlayStation 4

Persona 5 Royal, which adds a new party member, story sequences, and other content to the original, is for those who enjoy stylish JRPGs with engaging characters.

A high school student codenamed Joker attends Tokyo’s Akihabara High School, where he quickly becomes entangled in a mysterious realm populated by Personas, twisted villains and allies.

Dungeon-crawling action is interspersed with other, more mundane things like going to school or job or shopping or just hanging out with pals.

Persona 5’s leveling system, like Genshin Impact’s, is thoughtfully built to allow for a wide variety of playstyles and strategies.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

There are three platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Monstrum Nox probably wasn’t on your radar unless you’re a die-hard Ys fan already, given the series’ historically narrow appeal.

As a result, this latest chapter in the series delivers a unique take on the franchise’s action RPG concept that openly incorporates some ideas from other successful games.

Refinements have been made to Ys IX’s fighting to make it more exciting and furious like Genshin Impact.

Genshin fans won’t want to miss this notable action RPG, thanks to the Ys games’ well-known strong characters and narrative.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age

Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are supported.

Developed by Square Enix and starring a young man who discovers he is the reincarnation of an ancient legendary hero, Dragon Quest XI is the next chapter in the long-running JRPG series.

The hero sets out with a group of adventurers to find out what happened to him in the past, armed with this knowledge.

Like in Genshin Impact, players can spend time enhancing their team’s abilities, producing items, and outfitting themselves with a variety of outfits.

Many side missions, minigames, and other content are also available to expand the game’s playability.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch as a gaming console

Switch as a gaming console

Genshin-style principles are used to obtain new weapons, and battle allows you to blend diverse features from different characters.

This game’s graphics and audio have all been redone, and XC’s notoriously baffling mission tracking system has been simplified in the Definitive Edition.

Final Fantasy XIV

Microsoft Windows, Sony PlayStation 4, and Sony PlayStation 5

As a result of its balanced approach to storytelling, gameplay and aesthetics, Final Fantasy XIV is often credited with resurrecting the MMO genre.

New systems and events have been included, including fishing raids, city restoration projects, and new varieties of current raids and trials.

The new Shadowbringers expansion also raises the stakes and makes you cheer for the characters you care about the most, making it even more enjoyable to play.

Endgame crafting in Final Fantasy XIV can be monotonous, but Genshin Impact enthusiasts know exactly what I’m talking about. Even so, the level of complexity and variation in the game’s world will keep you engaged.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

There are three platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

The gameplay loop of Ni No Kuni II has been greatly improved over its predecessor, bringing it much closer to action RPGs like Genshin Impact.

It’s your job to rebuild your kingdom with the help of an unlikely group of allies after your country is overthrown and you lose your crown.

As a result of the inclusion of new “Higgledies,” elemental creatures that may cast spells and benefit teammates, real-time combat has become even more fascinating and chaotic.

Like Genshin Impact, you can also mix the powers of your heroes and use them in conjunction with one another during combat.

Fire Emblem Warriors

Nintendo Switch as a gaming console

Fire Emblem Warriors, the spin-off of the mainline strategy games, is another popular Nintendo property that shares some characteristics with Genshin Impact.

You’ll get to play as some of your favorite characters from both Dynasty Warriors and Fire Emblem, as well as some new ones.

In the end, what you get is a really fast-paced action RPG with a robust fighting system that allows you to perform ridiculous, over-the-top combination moves with characters like as Chrom.

Genshin Impact’s playstyle can be further customized by progressing up and unlocking new abilities for each of the heroes.

Craftopia

Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Android are all supported.

In similar ways, Pocketpair’s Craftopia, an open-world survival crafting game with Genshin influences, is currently in Steam Early Access.

For starters, the cel-shaded graphics and fantasy-themed setting make it a visually appealing game.

Players can use a variety of weapons, including swords, bows, and arrows, to hack and slash their way through dungeons and take on giant enemies.

It’s a terrific alternative for those who have already invested a lot of time in Genshin and are looking for something fresh but familiar.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

Nintendo Switch as a gaming console

Xenoblade Chronicles, a highly renowned open-world JRPG, was originally launched for the Wii and later adapted to the Nintendo 3DS.

As a youthful hero named Shulk, you join forces with other characters to combat an army of sci-fi alien robots known as Mechon.

Genshin-style principles are used to obtain new weapons, and battle allows you to blend diverse features from different characters.

Genshin Impact’s playstyle can be further customized by progressing up and unlocking new abilities for each of the heroes.

The Alchemist Code

A game like Genshin Impact would not be complete without the Alchemist Code. Many tactical components are included, as are anime-styled scenes, excellent graphics, and an excellent background score in this jRPG (Japanese mobile strategy RPG).

Additionally, you can play your cards by pulling the Gacha, which is a nice touch. It’s a game in which you must learn to harness the power of Alchemy and use it to alter the course of history. For this, you’ll find over 50 richly detailed characters. In order to become a powerful new avatar with great skills, you must collect all of the characters in the game.

The best aspect of this game, though, is the four-player co-op multiplayer mode, which pits you against your pals. You can compete against your friends and win rewards that can be used to purchase new characters. Just like Genshin Impact on Android and iOS, The Alchemist Code is an intriguing game with several sub-genres and fascinating components.

Tales of Wind

One of my favorite games, Tales of Wind, is based on a similar premise as Genshin Impact’s. For those who prefer a Gacha system, Tales of Wind is the best choice. RPG action, drama, tactical gameplay, and fantasy elements are all present. To bring light to the earth, you must uncover the truth in Tales of Wind’s La Place plotline. There’s a lot more to this than meets the eye. This game features anime-inspired visuals and sound effects, as well as well-done voice acting.

There are more than 80 characters in Tales of Wind’s Gacha system that you can gather. Creating a new world order and mastering the might of Divinity will be your responsibility. Genshin Impact, for example, features 3D animations and powerful aesthetics in the form of 3D models. Tales of Wind is an excellent choice for those looking for an RPG with an anime aesthetic on their iOS or Android device.

Sdorica

Similar to Genshin Impact, Sdorica is a popular mobile game that can be played on both Android and iOS devices. The Gacha mechanic is absent from the game, but other than that, Sdorica provides access to nearly everything. In addition to that, the game’s storyline is compelling and takes you on a journey to find the kingdom’s lone dragon ruler.

As with Genshin Impact, Sdorica features an intriguing and enigmatic narrative that keeps the gameplay fresh. Additionally, like Genshin Impact’s battle system, you can employ magical spells to save the planet in this game. The graphics aren’t spectacular, but the game has everything you need, and you’ll have a blast playing it.

Tower of Fantasy

It’s a new game based on Genshin Impact’s themes, Tower of Fantasy. You can pre-register and download the game from TapTap even though it hasn’t been made available to the general public yet. Tower of Fantasy is hailed by players as one of the few games that can match Genshin Impact in terms of action, graphics, and overall gameplay.

Tower of Fantasy - PC and mobile launch for new MMORPG confirmed for 2022 - MMO Culture

Open-world games like Genshin Impact are a great feature of Tower of Fantasy since the engine is capable of constructing a dynamic and seamless universe in seconds. This post-apocalyptic game offers a sci-fi feel to the visuals, with the main focus being exploring and rescuing people. The game’s interactive puzzle features are one of my favorite aspects. A great alternative to Genshin Impact, Tower of Fantasy is available right now from TapTap for both Android and iOS.

Install: Android / iOS (Free)

One Piece Fighting Path

An future mobile game like Genshin Impact, One Piece Fighting Path, is gaining popularity. TapTap has released an Android version of the game, while the iOS version is already accessible. One Piece Fighting Path is a 3D action-RPG game similar to Genshin Impact.

You can also work together with other players to overcome the adversaries here. Real-time combat, as shown on Genshin Impact, is a standout feature. In addition, the game’s performance has greatly improved in recent months. In addition, you can go on a maritime fantasy adventure by exploring the seas and collecting riches.

Download and install the app on your smartphone or tablet (Free, offers in-app purchases)

RPG Toram

Genshin Impact has as its core premise the fictional role-playing game RPG Toram. In addition, the game is an MMORPG, which means that you can join thousands of other players online and embark on a journey together. You have complete control over the appearance and abilities of your character in this game. As a bonus, you can use magic elements to enhance your abilities and expand your collection of weapons, as well as solve puzzles to gain rewards and explore the gorgeous and wide areas with your pals.

An intriguing post-catastrophic world story awaits you, as do the four separate worlds. It’s a good option if you’re looking for RPG thrills in a conventional style.

When Immortals Fenyx Rising was first announced, it was compared favorably to Breath of the Wild, just as Genshin Impact had been. The similarities are undeniable, but they should not be used as a reason to dismiss this outstanding book.

To be fair, Immortals Fenyx Rising also deserves credit for drawing influence from Nintendo’s groundbreaking open-world game, Genshin Impact, but it does it in a way that is specifically tailored to the game at hand. It’s a good time, but it doesn’t go on too long either.

After a rocky start, this MMORPG went on to become one of the best in the franchise. Final Fantasy 14 is a game that should be played by everybody who enjoys both multiplayer games and JRPGs.

To discuss about Japanese role-playing games (JRPGs) without mentioning the Dragon Quest series is impossible. Dragon Quest 11: Echoes Of An Elusive Age changed the perception of this IP in the West, which had been rather unpopular for a long time.

The Dragon Quest series suddenly become one of the most popular franchises in the world. A likable group of characters and some very exciting combat make Echoes Of An Elusive Age a pleasant frolic from beginning to end.

Nihon Falcom has consistently produced some of the best action RPGs in the previous two decades, even if their titles haven’t had the same economic success as Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest in the West. No matter how long it has been since Ys 8 was released, it is the finest choice for everyone who like hack and slash JRPGS, even if it is not the most recent.

Players will engage in thrilling fast-paced battle on a vast fantasy-themed island with a flexible party structure that allows them to quickly swap in and out of different characters. Battles are both simple to learn and complex to master because to the various playable characters and their unique talents, abilities, and flaws.

Dragalia Lost

  • It was September 27, 2018
  • Mobile

The quality of Nintendo’s games can’t be argued with, and Dragalia Lost is one of the best examples of this. The game has a great story and is free to play, so everyone can give it a go and see what they think. Players will be able to meet new characters from their favorite series in Monster Hunter: World, in addition to the Monster Hunter: World and Persona 5 crossovers already planned.

Hyper Light Drifter

It’s an excellent follow-up to any third-person action game if you like top-down hack and slash adventures with lots of 2D carnage. If you’re looking for an RPG experience that doesn’t feel like a typical RPG, go no further than this game.

Hyper Light Drifter review | PC Gamer

And the manner it tells a tale is what distinguishes this book from others. Hidden bits of information, backstory and mythology are scattered across the area in a very Souls-like manner. Players must be attentive in uncovering hidden passages tucked away at the screen’s edge if they wish to learn the game’s painful backstory. It’s not required to enjoy the game, but it’s a lovely example of in-game story telling that’s different from the norm.

Another Eden

  • 28th of January, 2019
  • PC
  • Mobile

As a turn-based JRPG from the same team behind Chrono Trigger, Another Eden is another excellent mobile game on this list. Also, it’s one of the most narratively dense mobile games ever created. There are hours of the main quest, multiple timeframes with distinct people, and even a few side tasks to be discovered.

On top of all that, the game also has a slick turn-based system and well-written characters with their own voice actors. There are also many difficulty settings, an elaborate leveling system, and post-game stuff. Perhaps it isn’t revolutionary, but another Eden illustrates unequivocally that you can use a mobile platform to run an RPG.

King’s Raid

  • On 16 February 2017
  • Mobile

Gacha games often require players to buy characters, but King’s Raid flips the coin. Getting your favorite party members to join your team is a piece of cake thanks to the game’s straightforward character acquisition system. The most difficult element is finding the right equipment to put them to use. With the Lil’ Raider update that was just released, users will be able to expand their squad with new line mates.

Marvel Strike Force

  • The 28th of March, 2018
  • Mobile

If you’re a fan of superheroes, Marvel Strike Force is an excellent choice. All the way from Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Star-Lord to Iron Man and Ant-Man. In this game, anyone can take part. In terms of quality, it’s on par with other classic Marvel video games, even if it is a mobile gacha game.

Turn-based combat necessitates assembling an army of heroes and villains who may complement one another in terms of attack types, special skills, and ultimate powers. For a smartphone game, it’s surprisingly sophisticated and strategic. With 75 characters to unlock, you’ll never run out of new ways to play the game.

Public Domains Gacha Game

Players that give Public Domains Gacha Game a chance will discover that the game’s terrible art is actually part of the game’s charm. There are a number of satirical digs at the gacha games in the title, as well as a storyline that pokes light at the ongoing legal troubles faced by Disney.

There has to be some humor in an April Fools’ Day-themed game, right? The Public Domains Gacha Game is offered for free to anyone who is looking for a nice chuckle after spending hours grinding other games.

Moonlighter

  • May 29, 2018
  • PS4
  • Nintendo Switch
  • The Nintendo DS
  • PC
  • Mobile

When it comes to video game concepts, Moonlighter may be one of the most original. Will, a shopkeeper in this top-down action RPG, serves as the protagonist. With his normal day job tending to his goods, Will transforms into Batman/Batman/Link at night to protect the people of the city.

An adorable story about someone who dares to dream and then has to follow through on their dreams is accompanied with traditional 2D third-person gameplay. Following on from Genshin’s action-packed fun, this is a wonderful hack, slash, and sell (if such a genre even exists).

FAQS:

Which is better Genshin or Honkai?

Genshin Impact is the winner!

Will Genshin become an MMO?

A single-player game with some optional multiplayer features, but not a massively multiplayer online RPG (MMORPG) (MMORPG). Your account’s level (also known as Adventurer Rank) is not introduced until you reach level 16.

Is Genshin a gacha?

Genshin Impact is fundamentally a gacha game, which is a deal breaker for many players. And so it should be! Using gambling mechanics to prey on players’ addictive tendencies while also selling power gives off an unsavory vibe.

Why is Genshin Impact a gacha?

Genshin Impact’s gacha system, which may cost hundreds of dollars, requires new characters to be gambled on before they can join your squad. Duplicating them a zillion times can cost thousands of dollars to get them to “max power.”
